@venomx Back  in August you were thinking about it https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6178081/is-a-car-worth-it#latest

Have your circumstances changed.  Running a car is an expensive exercise.
No but I have saved a fair bit and my parents are happy for me to drive their car to begin with

That site says "DVLA will send you a letter when your licence is taken away or surrendered, "

My license hasn't been taken away or surrendered

Do I need to go here ?

Check here first to see what it states about your condition

I am now slightly confused, but possibly the OP's medical status is not relevant and this is simply the lost driving licence needing to be renewed (apply for a replacement).  It does seem as though the OP has not ever surrendered or been required to give up the licence.  If that is the case, it will be best to avoid confusing matters at the DVLA.  Can the OP's parents assist (they are willing to let the OP drive their car), or maybe the OP has a social worker that can help?

OP's medical status might be relevant, depending on their diagnosis or medication. It would appear that they have chosen not to drive but some conditions are reportable. I suppose the question is whether they are able to request a new licence and report a condition at the same time, and if not, what order to do it in.
Can you discuss it with your psychiatrist to see if they would consider you fit to drive, as a starting point?

Licence should be here in a few weeks. Then I will declare my medical condition to the DVLA.
In the declaration form. It asks for when I last saw my CPN, GP and Psychiatrist. Would a rough date do ? As I don't know the exact month and date

Will they contact my psychiatrist once i've declared it ?

Before declaring anything about a medical condition, double check that it needs to be declared.

Yea paranoid schizophrenia definitely needs to be declared.

I'll try and contact my psychiatrist tomorrow and see their opinion on whether I'm fit to drive
