I don't see how it came to £7k. That sounds like a full-on affair rather a simple direct cremation or even a simple funeral with mouners.0 -

Yes, a pauper's funeral. Provided by the state to those who cannot otherwise afford one. The last time I asked it was a direct cremation with no mourners and the cremains were scattered at the crem.0

Interesting. When I asked they said no mourners but maybe that was just that area? As I said I used to be in the office a fair bit when I did the cremation papers - was a good earner.0

However, as this won't be in a single plot, it's not possible for family/friends to erect a headstone/permanent memorial.
