I agree with Jumblebumble. My obligation is to the 'insurance company' who paid me out as I had sustained loss which subsequently turned out not to be a loss. If I repay the cruise company, the InCo would still be within their rights to reclaim the money from me as the loss dematerialised when the cruise company subsequently repaid me.

sounds lijke youve made plenty of effort and obviously not trying to hide it. I think i would put the money in a safe account and forget about it until youre asked to return it, or in six years time buy yourself a weeks shopping with it, because thats probably what it will be worth.0
