Indeed, it's the fact that you gave no feedback of the varied fixes. Normally, one would expect feedback on each.JustAnotherSaver said:debitcardmayhem said:I get the impression you're saying it in a way that i have missed something because i have not posted back saying wow this is fixed..? Because i have posted saying basically that the only thing that applies now is taking it to get repaired and i'm being asked - have you tried the links. So then i think maybe i DID miss something.I read the links (again) and either i'm missing the magic fix (again) or we're just going round in circles. Not sure which yet.Found out our local repair shop have cut things right back because of covid and Apple are charging in the region of what would be £300 as it'll be out of warranty.£219 for a Galaxy tablet.
i.e what you tried exactly. For how long you held the the buttons for the Hard Reset. Same for the DFU Restore. No feedback on that either. So perhaps everyone is expecting that normal feedback.
Your replies appear somewhat rude and presumptuous. We aren't going around in circles. We just aren't mind readers or sitting in your house with you. You need to communicate properly.

I'm actually not sure if you're being serious or if your post is a wind up??
I didn't post the feedback from the fixes? I'm still talking about it being broken and the possibility of a repair (or not now that I've seen it's £300ish) so I would've thought that alone should show that each and every fix attempted resulted in the ipad not being fixed? No need for any Mystic Meggary. The screen is blank throughout everything.0 -
Seems that you aren't quite getting it. Good luck, I'm out.JustAnotherSaver said:I'm actually not sure if you're being serious or if your post is a wind up??

It does help to know what has been tried before and you would be surprised how many people don't try the basics such as different leads, chargers etc.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned which has previously worked for me before is to leave the ipad alone for a week to try and fully discharge the battery and then try recharging it and turning it on.
I'm not keen on Apple so would just buy an android tablet but probably worth a try before spending any money.1 -
So you've tried a different cable ?
The main ipad cable have you anyway of seeing if its duff as it could be so ?
If answer to above is no then maybe buy a cable and see what happens but leave it more than a day.
Do you get the battery symbol (as shown on the apple page linked to earlier ) come up when you plug it in ?1 -
From the OP:DCFC79 said:So you've tried a different cable ?JustAnotherSaver said:Various cables plugged in to mains and PC as well as with iTunes fired up all don't do anything.1 -
Of course it helps to know - that's why I even put it in the thread title as well as talking about it in the main post for anyone who would skim read "ipad won't turn on" and just offered an URL to tell you to do something like DFU mode etc.GrumpyDil said:It does help to know what has been tried before and you would be surprised how many people don't try the basics such as different leads, chargers etc.

No I haven't tried giving it a week - it only happened the other day, so we'll try that.
Also haven't tried leaving it on charge for a prolonged period of time so will try that after the week.0 -
A device of this price and only 2 years old has not lasted a reasonable period of time. I suggest you take it back to apple to check it which won't cost. If it's not a fix they can do free then take it back to where you bought it. This out of warranty nonsense is just that and there's no 1 year cut off in the consumer rights act.1

Was it in the thread title or anywhere else that you attempted the DFU recovery....or are we supposed to just assume you tried it?
You wrote that you plugged it into iTunes. That's not the same thing is it? It seems that you don't understand me, so best I just use the ignore function, so we don't waste our time trying to communicate again.1 -
I thought if it was out of warranty then you have to pay? Why are Apple or anyone allowed to say 2 years warranty if that's nonsense? Surely they'd have been stopped by now if that was so?Cash-Cows said:A device of this price and only 2 years old has not lasted a reasonable period of time. Her last ipad only lasted about 2 years before it started acting up - but at least the screen still turned on and she could trade it in. The ipad before that lasted about 4 years I think.
I've had iPhones where the battery starts acting up after 2 years. Pretty poor timefrane considering the money.
On the other hand, my laptop is 10 years old and perfectly fine. A new battery and SSD would give it a boost but its still fine enough.0
