E7 is unlikely to be a cheaper option for you.My late father once got talked into going onto E7 by a friend. He had a typical house with gas central heating. He then switched to another supplier and swore blind E7 was saving him money. He just ran the dishwasher at night because it had a time delay function, but changed little else. Only when he switched again and had problems with the new supplier did I get involved. It turned out the old supplier had the day and night rates reversed and the new supplier picked it up.Luckily the old supplier washed their hands of the business, so he'd had a couple of years of cheap electricity!Maybe the previous owners of the house you are buying got talked into E7 as well, or maybe they had an overnight cannabis farm...

Wow this newish setup must be bad when 2 long established members manage to post mistakenly in the completely wrong part of the forum? LPG, Heating Oil, Solid & Other Fuels
No offence! to posters. It appears to happen all the time! because of the new "improvements" that were forced on people.
MSE should be looking at this and getting a clearer way to post in Energy or the LPG, Heating Oil, Solid & Other Fuels forum / threads.
I would have thought having two distinct forums rather than sub folders from the main Energy forum would be applicable?
Energy
LPG, Heating Oil, Solid & Other

Gave up trying to figure out this "new improved" layout long ago.

I've never understood why Water is considered to be Energy.0

LOL
But it is usually Newbies. If it is also catching out experienced members then the whole Forum needs to be looked at again. But understand that will not happen the wiz kids have redesigned it got their bonus and walked away.
They do not actually have to use this mess!

Wait until you have possession, then register with the existing supplier(s). You could switch immediately (perhaps initially to tariffs with no exit fees) and making a guess at annual consumption in kWh, or you could wait and get some meter readings and do the sums to see how your E7 usage compares with standard rate.E7 isn't necessarily more expensive, even with night usage as low as about 20%, it just depends on the switching times (which vary regionally) and your lifestyle. Seeboard area customers are lucky because they can 'double dip', the cheap hours being 2230 - 0030 and 0230 - 0730 GMT.Start comparing with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'. To get single rate quotations, say you don't have E7 or use a nearby address if the site looks up your meter records automatically. Remember that separate suppliers are often cheaper than dual fuel and that many suppliers don't require a change of meter to bill at single rate.0
