I'd chase that if I were you because if you're watching telly and you aren't paying for it, it's going to catch up with you, sooner or later.notbritishgas said:Not received my licence yet, applied more than a month ago. No DD set up yet on my bank.

I've been paying my TV licence by DD for years and a few years ago I received a letter from the TV licencing place to say that they wouldn't be sending out certificates or any associated paperwork any more. They will just carry on taking my DD every month. And every year since they just send a letter thanking me for continuing to pay by DD. And I check my bank balance every now and then to ensure that it's being paid.
So I'm not sure why they're now sending certificates. They really don't need to.
Have any payments been taken from your Dad's bank account? That's the best way to check. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Why? It's the law now. And also, I don't think they are exactly 'queueing'.brewerdave said:I'm amazed that so many 75+ s are queueing up to pay !!Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. It's not the law if you're legally licence free. I hear more and more people saying that the TV licence is not good value for money, the BBC put on too many repeats and no longer produces the quality of programmes they used to.MalMonroe said:

Lots of posters on here seem to be enthusiastic about paying!MalMonroe said:

No ,not strictly the law - its BBC's decision to screw the over 75s who have not needed a licence for ~ 10 years - grossly unfair and I certainly wouldn't start paying for one if I was in their position!
Wait for the summonses to start landing (but it may be some time since Crapita are such a useless bunch of money gabbing b*******ds!)1 -
It amazes me too, actually paying for BBC Propaganda, to be rammed down their throats...brewerdave said:I'm amazed that so many 75+ s are queueing up to pay !!

It also allows you to watch the subscription channels, so some people pay for their TV twice. You might not want subscription channels and you don't have to pay for them, but someone who only wants subscription still has to pay for terrestrial TV. I don't like using the deceitful phrases (free to air, Freeview and Freesat) when the TV licence is definitely not "free".Alter_ego said:

My 96 year old father-in-law died in September. Unfortunately just before being admitted to hospital he paid in full for a year's TV licence. We have requested a refund using the online form but haven't heard anything yet. However I'm pretty certain that he should have been exempt as he was receiving various benefits and had carers visiting several times a day. What bothers me is that the letter we found in his flat telling him to pay for a licence doesn't appear to mention any exemptions. Is this normal?0
