Odd ebay details in address, essential?

Suddenly these odd numbers & alphabet no's have started appearing in buyers address details when provided by ebay. What are they there for & do we have to quote them in address or just ignore them?
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Is it a click and collect code?1

It's called an eVTN and it allows eBay to verify your dispatch times as they can ask Royal Mail when the item was posted (even if no tracking information is supplied).
If you generate postage labels direct from eBay then the code will be encoded into the 2D barcode. If you use stamps, hand write the address, or use a third party service not integrated into the eBay portal, there is no requirement to include the code.2 -
Ah, so puzzle solved, thank you. Currently I'm using stamps for posting items up to 2k with Royal Mail, but didn't want to risk excluding this strange section of letters & numbers just in case they were essential. With courier labels always buy them via ebay. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

Is it to Australia? I have had random letters, I asked and they said just leave them out.0

The Australian code "ABN #64 652 016 681 Code: PAID" needs to be added in the address as it shows the buyer has already paid the Goods and Services Tax (GST)
The code ebay is now adding to UK addresses is for their reference which they can apparently check with the carrier.1 -

I saw a post (from William Shatner of all people) that UK Gov is pushing collection of VAT onto international sellers so it must be changing.
He was maliginng he would remove sales to the UK from his store due to admin costs.0 -

Amazon also do it but in a way that it hasn’t affected bookkeeping processes.-1 -

That's one thing I was afraid of, individual sellers finding it too much hassle to sell to the UK so we can no longer buy from them. It’s already happening the other way round. eBay and Etsy already automatically charge sales tax for any sales we make to USA, Australia and Norway. I’m sure more will follow. It’s made bookkeeping more of a pain that’s for sure!
Good to know Etsy and eBay will probably be doable, as most of my international purchases are on Etsy. At one point I thought they absolved themselves of responsibility by saying they're merely a platform and don't get involved in actual sales, which is why they don't currently collect VAT on sales over the threshold to the UK, but maybe that's changed. If it makes bookkeeping more of a hassle I can still see some sellers just not allowing sales to the UK though0
