Test and Trace Support Payment

Hi,
Does anyone know if you're eligible for the Test and Trace Support Payment £500 if your having to take time off work self isolating awaiting test results?
I'm on day five of waiting for the test and lost a whole weeks work (Self Employed). The Gov website says you're eligible if you've tested positive or if you've been told to self isolate via the Test and Trace system.
Checked a few sources now and can't seem to find an answer.
Thanks

You have to have been actually told to stay at home by Track and Trace to qualify for it

You need to meet all of this criteria:
- you have been told to stay at home and self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, either because you have tested positive for coronavirus or have recently been in close contact with someone who has tested positive
- you’re employed or self-employed
- you’re unable to work from home and will lose income as a result of self-isolating
- you’re currently receiving at least one of the following:
- Universal Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- income-based Employment and Support Allowance
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Credit

Why would anyone be waiting 5 days for a test ? You might qualify as pointed out once you actually have your test and are positive.dawsirn said:

Thanks for replies, that's the same info I've come across already which I'm interpreting as I won't be eligible for a payment unless the test comes back positive?
If that is the case then I see I a real problem in peoples willingness to isolate until they receive results, as we're following government/NHS advise to stop the spread of the virus but very much at our own cost.0 -
Payment aside you should be doing right thing, to stop the potential spread.dawsirn said:Thanks for replies, that's the same info I've come across already which I'm interpreting as I won't be eligible for a payment unless the test comes back positive?

That holier than thou attitude is all well and good when people have food to put on the table, back in the real world having to wait 5 days for a test without any financial assistance is a disgraceess0two said:

I am not arguing otherwise. The issue here is clearly the testing regime. 5 days and we dont know when the OP is actually booked in, may be another day or two yet. Shambolic.0

Exactly complete shambles, trouble is if you rock up at work, then get a positive result it may effect others?bradders1983 said:I am not arguing otherwise. Just to make it clear, I received the actual test very quickly, they managed to book me on a local drive through one within the hour which was great but still waiting for the results almost 5 days later. I have chased them a couple of times but they can't do anything until 5 days after the test was carried out.
I'll continue Self isolating waiting for the result as it's the right thing and I'm advised too on the Gov website but I can see why many aren't going to be so cooperative.
Hate to say it but it will make me think twice if I ever get symptoms again. Just can't afford to lose out on pay like this again.0
