I would go so far as refusing all viewings unless they provide you with full names, no discussion just tell them no name no view.
Hope your not tied in too long with these muppets !

That is exactly how I am feeling right now. I agree.   Thanks for your support!

They're your agent, you're their principal - so their data is your data.
as Davidmcm is a solicitor in Scotland this is all you need to know to throw back at your EA

We get names and how many are coming in advance of viewings plus when we went multi agency we got a list with dates of all the people who had viewed our house.

If they're refusing to tell you names because of 'data protection', tell them that you hope they haven't passed on your address as that would be 'against data protection' too.  They can't have it both ways - either they give out relevant details as agreed by both parties or they're idiots and refuse to give out any information at all... including your address.  They may see how daft they're being!
  • We had 13 viewings for ours all with the agent and we didn't know the names/details of any of them. I never thought about it really. In the end we knew the names of the people we ended up choosing.
It is your house though so fairs that you decide

Nonsense. Nothing in GDPR prevents this. I'd sack them for incompetence.

Never bothered me to know who is viewing. Unless they are interested parties.

Good one! I haven't slept a wink with this dilemna but you made me smile there- yeah if we both play the dp old chestnut then it's not too helpful.
  • MaryDolly, not sure who your EAs are but I would seriously think about changing them unless they get a grip.  I am also in Scotland (and a conveyaning paralegal so know a bit) and as well as the emails that my EAs sent for each viewing (that I've already mentioned) they would tell me their position, ie, cash buyer, FTB, house on the market etc.  So I knew they were working for me to make sure I was getting serious viewers.  Plus, I live on my own and so would always want to know who was turning up on my doorstep!
