hiya grump, its about 20 mins in the car from me so not far, would i walkaway yes, if i could get it for 16k and a 5k p/x (wbac price) plus tank of fuel and 12mths tax i would be happy, so that would be 11k cash to cough up
Well, go and see the car and if you still want the deal, offer them your car plus £10.5k.  OR, sell your car to WBAC and just offer them £16k straight up and walk out if you don't get it.  I guess if you phone in advance, they know you are keen - if you can just walk in the garage might not be so sure (assuming the car is on site as the big garages like Lookers don't keep everything on site but you can do an anonymous check on the website).

For a point of reference, when we purchased my wife's Fiesta, we negotiated full tank of fuel and mats but couldn't get anything by way of money off.  Trouble was, we were hampered by my wife wanting that car and not willing to walk away and, given the inconvenience of when we had to go to see the car, the garage probably knew that.
  • tape the mrs gob up tell her not to show any emotions, the sales guy will be loving it while your cringing watching the £ signs all over the car, i will see what they come up with, i wont call them and the car is on there site, nothing to lose, let you know the outcome, wish me luck

I agree, I agree, but I couldn't not take my wife to choose her new car :(
There are no used car incentive / finance deals currently listed on the Ford website :(  Shame as I know the big garages such as Lookers honour those.
Another thing you can do, is Autotrader shows the age of the advert in the top of the page.  That gives you a guide to how long they had the stock for.
£16k for a £24k list car seems reasonable - probably about £20,656k from an on-line broker.  So, 20% discount on top, pretty good.
I am not sure whether you need to call at the moment because of coronavirus compliance?  Still try a walk-in and see what happens.
    Good luck!

also on dvlc car tax app showing no tax since march this year hmmmmm , thats in the ammunition

ps i will start my target at 10.5k and moving up as you mentioned
  • stubod , if thats the case of not budging with the price then things have changed a lot, never once paid the screen price
grump_chap ive put the reg in on wbac and all it comes up with is the price its offering me as if i was selling it (3.5k cheaper) now is that the kind of money they are making on it?
Have you had your head in the sand these last 7 months?

Do you think there are many cars being sold right now?

Currently dealers can't afford to budge on price cause they need the money as car sales have dropped through the floor!

It's quite simple how it works if you don't buy it at the price offered someone else will
  • Always worth an offer they can only say no.
If cars aren't budging then dealers will have to drop prices eventually, simple law of supply and demand. I bought a car in June but it was keenly priced and I didn't get any discount but it was one of the cheapest in the country and from a main dealer so it looked like good value to me and that is all you can aim for, if you think it is reasonable value then transact, if not then leave it.

    hi all and a update
i got it hahahahaha feels great,  i had a figure in mind how much i was going to pay out my pocket
it started off how much do i want for my car, i had to give a ans so it was 5k, so i had a little moment in my head and said push it up, so i did what did i have to lose, and watched the guys face, inc manager was doing all the talking so there was no going back and forward, and he wasnt shocked at me asking for 6k, he said i will be honest it will be going up for sale at 6500, he then said top trade in price (showed me the print out of the value of the car) he said i can give you top trade in price of 5k , so i got what i wanted there, full tank of fuel, no tax i did try and trade price on next year service as for how much i have to cough up in the end it ended up i was wanting to pay 11k then 11250max , ended up 11070, happy with that just a shame about the car tax but i wanted the car and dep is paid, happy with that indeed, so there is movement to be made, btw it worked out 485 off the screen price

It probably help you were realistic about the trade in value.  £500 plus the tank of fuel is good, especially as this car had already been dropped in screen price.  Hope you enjoy it.
  • cheers grumpy i really am happy with hitting my target, pickup next fri :)
