I didn't have problem with Amex not being accepted anywhere so far. I mean, I only use it for petrol and food at supermarkets which they all accept Amex. Plus Amazon and eBay who also accept it.
I just was a bit narked that most car insurance companies don't accept Amex. That's quite pathetic. They get money for nothing and they literally pull their prices out of their a***s, so how come they can't afford to accept Amex? Or should I ask, how come they are so greedy? I did an online quote for insurance and was offered £281. Next day, retrieved the quote, I just tried to change the date and then changed it back, but the price was £297 and I could not get it back to £281. How much would it cost them to accept Amex, 5 quids? They just gained £16 for literally nothing.
Same with road tax. Govs just grab your money but can't accept Amex. Ridiculous. In my case the road tax costs me more than insurance. Would be nice if I could charge both on Amex.

A few issues with this post:- Insurance companies don't get money for nothing. If you have an accident, they give you money to repair the damage to your car or other peoples' cars. You probably don't have an accident most years, hence why you think they're getting money for nothing.
- Insurance companies don't just pull prices out their rear ends. Prices are based on the perceived risk of drivers.
- If you're unhappy with your can insurance quote, there is nothing stopping you switching provider.
- Road tax doesn't exist, it was abolished in 1937. I think what you're referring to is Vehicle Excise Duty which is a tax linked to the amount of emissions your car produces. Roads are funded out of general taxation and the revenue raised from VED goes directly to the Treasury to fund whatever it wants, whether that's roads, the NHS, schools, etc.
- If you don't like the fact that an insurance company doesn't accept Amex, you could switch to an insurer which does (Admiral certainly does). A more sensible option might be to switch to the insurance company which offers you the best value in terms of price and cover and use whatever card you can. You could always use a non-Amex card which pays cashback.

Well...1. They do. Their profits hugely exceed the money they need to pay out, which they try to avoid as much as possible, of course. Maybe you would like to read about Warren Buffett and why he, as the worlds most famous investor, decided to get involved in insurance business.2. They literally pull it out their rear ends and try to mask it with some technical mumbo jumbo. Can you explain me how the perceived risk changes when you do your quote on a different day? Are drivers who ask for quotes on Saturday more risky then those who ask for quotes on Sunday? Or vice versa? Your insurance premium price changes based on when you do the quote and when the cover is supposed to start. My quote went up from 281 to 297 only because I changed they day from 6th to 7th. Then changed it back from 7th to 6th, but the price didn't drop back to 281. They literally made 16 pounds for NOTHING.3. Thanks for the advice but that's what I am already doing when looking for new quotes. They all use these nonsensical algorithms that change prices randomly, based on when you're quoting it.4. It's still called road tax by many people. Oficially a vehicle tax, I'm just reading it on my Vehicle Tax Reminder.
Btw, offtopic but basing the tax on CO2 production is utter nonsense. Much more important is annual mileage. If someone has a 5-litre Mustang as a second car and only drives 100 miles per month with it on sunny weekends, while someone has 1-litre company car which drives 3000 miles per month, which one produces more emissions? And no, 5-litre engine does not produce 5x more emissions than 1-litre engine as some people might think. And even if it did, it stil would be much less emissions in the end.5. Yes, but it's still pathetic that they "can't afford" to accept Amex while they charge you 10 or 50 more for just doing the quote on a different day. Or hundreds more if your name is Mohammed (google it) or if you just change the wording on your job title.EPICA - the best symphonic metal band in the world !0
