So the amex nectar point are different to the actual nectar account.

This might lean me toward the nectar , if I can get the welcome bonus point , transfer it to away, close it asap. Wait for 2 yes and get another welcome bonus point.

    Any problem with this plan???
Yes as soon as you hit the spend target the points accrued get transferred automatically 5 days prior to you statement date - I recently referred someone, they hit the target and have already received the points.
  • If you only want nectar card to get a bonus points and close it to avoid 2nd year fee - go for everyday  platinum cash back one. No need to cancel and just using for normal groceries, petrol and other basics shopping ( with a much wider choice of retailers than nectar ) will give you decent cash back, and card is free, so no need to cancel either. Yes you have to wait whole year to get a cash back, but it cost you nothing and cash back needs no converting or anything, it's free money to spend
     - wherever you want, on anything you want ( unlike nectar card where you choice of where to use your points is rather limited ).

Nectar is the more appealing prospect to me - I don't spend much at Sainsbury's but their double up event makes this card effectively worth 2%. There are occasional redemptions on ebay worth a similar value.

Welcome bonus worth more than 0.5% cashback rate . Shame I would have to wait 2 years for it.

    Which welcome bonus?

What are you valuing nectar points at?

Welcome bonus Cashback is at 5%  max £100, welcome bonus nectar is 20k points for 2k spend within 1st 3 months.
The valuation for the nectar point at 0.5%, with £2k spend, I get 20k plus 4k points, so £120

Plus if you use a referral link you get an extra 1K nectar points
  • Cash is King over points in my opinion so i would go Amex everyday, only problem with amex is that annoying "not accepted here" thing although that has improved.

With the nectar 'doube up', even more reason to go for amex nectar.

If you go via topcashback you get £30, which is worth much more than 1,000 nectar points.
