I just came back from seeing The Kite Runner. There couldn't have been more than 30 people at the screening which I could not believe as I knew how some people have been desperate to see it, but then, it is not a Disney film. I thought it was really very good, I would definitely recommend it.

  • My Lady and I just saw 'The Kite Runner' tonight. Very good movie I would definitely recommend as well. The cinema (Odeon Greenwich) was only about 25% full. I guess they don't allocate all the seats when giving away free tickets. In a couple of days we're off for our Christmas holidays.
May 2008 be a prosperous year for everyone with lots of free preview screenings to come.

Oh God, all these decisions. Probably, although I am shallow, Enchanted stays on top because it was just such good-natured fun and just what I needed after a long day at the office. And it was so much better than I had expected it to be, because it was poking fun at Disney films themselves. The Kite Runner is more serious and thought-provoking, and I want to read the book now, because it was a great story. But I am outfilmed for this week, three in one week was a first!

Hi all, I must say they are really pushing "Kiterunner", I have had different codes sent to me every day for the last 4 days. Has anyone seen it? And if so what did you think of it?

Yep...I keep getting these codes too and I saw the film on Tuesday! Great film...was enthralled throughout. Thought provoking story, interesting characterisation, visually stunning at times...uncomfortable viewing at others. Would highly recommend :T

Ooooh! That's difficult. Just 2 and then the interpretation of BEST !
    Especially comparing comedy v foreign v true story v drama v action v factual v horror v etc ...

A list in no particular order - just as I remember them

    Hot Fuzz
    Run Fat Boy Run
    Stardust
    Disturbia
    Atonement
    The Kingdom
    Elizabeth - The Golden Age
    Rendition
    Kite Runner
    Enchanted
    Death At A Funeral
    The Darjeeling Limited
    Die Fälscher (The Counterfeiters)
    Miss Potter
    28 Weeks Later
    Superbad
    Knocked Up

.... and I'd guess that's less than half the films I've seen free this year.

If I think of others then I'll add to the list but as it stands .....

a top 3 - again in no order - Hot Fuzz, Stardust and Death at a Funeral

A few posts back mention another film I saw, and a few more I saw for free in 2007 also popped up ...... 2 all the way back to January ...

which makes another 7 to add to the list

    BABEL
    Dreamgirls
    Notes on a Scandal
    Hairspray
    Firehouse Dog
    Surf's Up
    The Illusionist
