    No.
I once checked over my car and changed a blown light bulb before taking it to the test centre; it failed on another bulb, which must've gone on the way there.
  • No. A major service will not pick up issues like bushings being worn or track rod ends needing replaced. A service relates specifically to the engine, it's lubricants, coolants, filters, plugs and washers. Major items like gallery gaskets, belts, chains etc will also be covered.

Let me give you an example. A full service does not involve the inspection or replacement of luminary fuses or bulbs. You submit to an MOT and it fails because the fog light isn't working - the servicing of the vehcile does not cover the specific failure, therefore a full service is never a guarantee of passing an MOT.

A fog light not working would be picked up on the owner's weekly checks.

But could go on the way to the test centre, or between the weekly check and the test date.

First pass the MOT, then do the service.
This; put it through mot first; find out if it’s worth getting the service.
