No he had one account. Basically they banned him saying he was me. They left my account alone. 😕They didn't ban the ip address, just the user.duncanthedog said:
Did he get banned for having more than one account and you didn't?minty777 said:
Well I have this account and brother had another account and he got banned for having more than one account. We only had an account each with different email addresses.Hi_Fidelity said:Not true. I know I'm not the only person in my company who visits MSE ... we all (in the UK) arrive at the Internet via the same public IP address, which is the address MSE will see.
If it was the case of the ip address getting banned then you would have been banned as well.

Has he put in an appeal to the forum team?0

To the best of my knowledge MSE has never had the ability to ban IP addresses, it should have but has never invested in it.0

It has done in the past, I had to appeal an IP address ban after I had copied a Word document and posted it on the forum, I was reinstated after the appeal.venison said:To the best of my knowledge MSE has never had the ability to ban IP addresses, it should have but has never invested in it.0 -
Ive often read threads where people openly admit to creating a new account as they want to remain "anonymous" to their main username, especially if wanting to discuss something very personal.
Is this allowed? As long as there is no intention of misuse, spamming etc. and they are open to the fact that it is a "new" username? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1
