Council gas

What has this to do with "the Council" in the first place?.Might be an idea to contact the gas supplier applicable and follow the disconnection process thats in place, only you and your supplier have any responsibility in this.Any other information is the same as when you asked the same question and apparently disregarded back in July.3

You'll be expected to reinstate it when you leave the property, and that could be expensive.1

Believe me when I say, "Huh?"
I don't care who your landlord is; just talk to your supplier. Unless you intend to stay there for the rest of your life, it will probably be cheaper to just pay the standing charge (which is pennies per day) than to pay for the removal and reinstatement of the meter.0 -
Do you not have a gas boiler? If you have one you should be using it, it's far cheaper than any other form of heating.1

In your original July post you said "............. something I only use occasionally use ?"
There's no half-way house here - either you need gas or you don't. Once cut off you use something occasionally.
Presumably "Council" you are renting from the Local Authority. You will need their permission.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

If you have decided that you dont want gas then IMHO you should be the one who pays to have the meter taken out rather than the people who pay council tax.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1

The council or HA will almost certainly refuse permission, as they'll eventually end up footing the bill for eventual reinstatement.

Which will cost you a fortune in running costs if nothing else. How do you heat the property? Do you have an oven? Is it gas now or electric? What do you do for hot water?1
