Get an OBD and the Forscan software, you may need to reset the DPF values.
Don't do a static regen if its hit its limits.  Get it good and hot and then reset all the DPF values
and then take it for a run on the Motorway or decent run with little traffic.

I don't have Forscan and don't know what to get for that. I just got a normal cheap OBDII reader which gave me the code but won't allow me to remove it for some reason.

Forscan will work with a lot of them, worth trying it.  Android for Bluetooth/Wifi OBD boxes or
a better Windows version if you have a laptop or Windows tablet.

I've had to replace dpf on a Volvo c30, Ford engine.  Cost £800.
See if garage can do artificial regen.  Then consider trading in.

Just ordered an OBD cable that can be used with Forscan on a Windows laptop (I don't don't do tablets). Will see if it I can clear it with that.

    Dear OP
There is a small chance it may just be a fualty sensor as one of my ex work mates found out. Another said they drove their car for years with the light on but that was a petrol auto Fiesta about 10 yrs ago and the car was the older shape.
IMHO, best to get it checked as it could be nothing or it could result in you being stranded and having to app a lot more for a rush repair.
Having though about it, yes buy one of those cheap gadgets a poster posted about but that could throw up a lot of meaningless faults or take it to a fast fit place poss book online to get a discount/etc

Being sarcastic towards other members can earn you a warning.
I got a post deleted where I apparently insulted sweetsand

My post was justified in my opinion

Please stop quoting him (I know I've quoted him to make my point)

For some reason the mods will delete his original unhelpful post but not quotes for some reason

Got a OBD cable and Forscan for Windows, reset DPF values using Forscan and the engine management light went out. Then took car for a blast up and down the local NSL dual carriageway a couple of times (40 miles total) keeping the revs up in fourth gear. Light hasn't come back on yet.

Time will tell if this has fixed it or not.

Check the soot loads, my diesel regens around 80% I think?  Exhaust should be around 600ºC
    during the process.
