There is no guarantee they will win. If they do not, then those signed up to the legal claim will be liable for costs.
Not true.  The official claim is no win no fee.
And if VW win and have costs awarded...?
The poster states 'n win, no fee' so I guess the clue is in the 'no fee.'

No win, no fee doesn't equate to no win, no costs.

Well most of the population won't pick this up or they wouldn't sign up in the first place.

The list of things Sweetie doesn't understand is very, VERY long.

For info, this is how this no win no fee is funded.
  • Am I reading that correctly?  You don't pay any premium upfront and "You will not have to pay any premium if you lose".  Surely the whole point of the insurance - and the premium - is to cover you for costs and disbursements in the event that you do lose?

What am I missing?  (In my defence it is well past my bed-time).

I wondered this too. It's a bit like saying "put a £10 bet on this horse. You don't have to pay the £10 until after the race, and if the horse loses you don't have to pay anything." No bookie would stay in business long if they took that attitude. And insurance is, after all, just a sophisticated way of betting that certain things will or will not happen.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
  • Well it's the same for the legal firm. If they lose they get nothing, huge amount of work wasted. But they clearly think they have a winnable case here, and so does the insurance company.
