I'm praying the big elephant won't be joined by the rest of the herd, but it's 50:50, and both views are still theories, neither of which get a mention in the MSM.If I've misinterpreted, apologies.
Here's another trendy thing; white Camassias naturalised in grass. Friend liked them, and she's better colour sense than me, but I'll put up the blues later, which I much prefer.

Hot day ahead, luckily all watering was completed yesterday, but now it starts, I guess.twopenny said:Farway, there were some tips on grape growing on a tv prog tonight and I thought of you.

How would you know if a flower is male or female....? Do you get male/female courgettes that produce corresponding flowers..? Serious question.
In the midst of neighbours from hell, hurray for your Lovely Neighbour FarwayDid the facefook gardener not come to anything? Your AI pic made me guffaw, we're really in no danger yet are we ha haa! I do like the dewy covering on the grapes and the bee's neck fluff though. 4/10 - must try harder.
However, there is a method to sort this out, a bit racy for young eyes, blue or otherwise, though, sort of veggie r@peMy Faceache contact failed to respond, but I spotted another ad this morning, so if I can find it again I'll get in touch with them about my pond & ivy.
Those roses look well, and ahead of mine.Dustyevsky said:YoungBlueEyes said:Oh and buy shares in bamboo cane companies, and whoever produces those little green clip/hook things. Jeez I’m getting through them.Live financial info.If you do happen to have shares in Royal Mail, now known as RMG, they are trading today at a 16-month-high, though still nowhere near the £6 each they once were, when we should probably have dumped ours.
Disclaimer: I am not a financial expert. Anyone viewing my bank account would work that out in 3 milliseconds.. Seeing his lorries everywhere, it was a no-brainer, right? What could possibly go wrong?
Oh I know, let's buy Sarfend AirportOT, but massive fines for the auditors & company went bust this year
'phone call from DD, she is coming over tomorrow so can collect the Cosmos, tomatoes and other bits I have, plus pull up the sycamore seedlings sprouting beyond my enfeebled pawsI hope to plant up two more wall baskets today, just the trailing fuchsias. And if my seeds arrive, I'll sow some broad beans on damp kitchen roll. This is my Blackberry "Helen", I only bought it because my Mum was Helen, soft sod. Mixed reviews on it, some say wonderful, others say waste of space. This summer I'll find out, hopefully.

I don't think you've misinterpreted Dusty. I think the rest of the herd will start soon, unless they can be 'convinced' to stand back. I mean what were they doing travelling together?! That was always going to happen - you can't give that lot an 'in' and expect them not to take it. I'm saying nothing else.
Very pretty white flowers there, they look a bit feather-dustery
So the one has the both flowers, thank you Farway. Is it the twiddling cotton bud method of which you speak? Would Lovely Neighbour do a little more if asked nicely over tea and wee buns.... I'm cynical about all things fb and would be so wary of contacting anyone on it - especially if it was to get them round to your houseHappy to be proved wrong though
I know what you mean about names - I think it's lovely you've got a plant after your mum, and fingers crossed it proves worth it's while. I've not seriously looked but I've not spotted anything with my mum's name on it but I'll buy it regardless if I do. 'Watching' QVC last night (I flick to that channel when the ads from proper telly come on cos I can't bear any of them) and there was a fellah selling roses - one of which was my name, spelled the same and everything! I was all for buying one 'til himself gave me a disapproving side-eye
He might have to go.

Far more Invading Vikings, Mongol hordes style than that!Behead [sever] the male flower from the plant, rip its petals asunder & stuff its private bits into the female, having unrobed and exposed her private bits firstI like the idea of replacing himself with a rose same name as youPerhaps you could compromise & also find something with the same name as him?You could give it a clip now and then if needed.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
Ooof! I see know why you described it the way you did
It’s taking a lot of willpower to sit here and not look at the qvc website I tell ya. They were doing pairs of roses that compliment each other (colour and scent) for the same price as one of my swish roses. It was odd to see my exact name though, I don't have an unusual name but the spelling keeps changing. Himself has a plain name, but there could still be something named after him I spose. But I'm not looking up that either !
P.S. I see what you did in quoting my postI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Talking of roses this is outside my bedroom! Covered from back to front and along with the self seeded wallflowers smells amazing! It also blocks out the view that would be tarmac and fencing which was the intention but this is more than I hoped for. It's Gertrude Jeykll and I've one cut and in a vase beside my bed.All my roses are out in the back too. All but one scented. The one over the gate however has a wild number of buds, it's 70% buds - all that deadheading is what I'm thinking
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Think you need some different compost, or at least potting on in some fresh - mine have burst into growth with similar, especially with warmer weather, and can't think of any other reason why yours shouldn't be doing the same...

2p, I see your erigeron is looking lovely [gnash and wail of teefs..] Beautiful roses too. My mothers name would go with any roses latin name. Trouble is, she loved pink, which was also her name in one translation, which I am not a fan of. I do have her favourite pink rose outside though, grown from a cutting given to me by my father so while I am not a fan, it's historic like innit.Dusty, condolences for your niece too. I think I am guilty of expecting adults ot have cancer so when it's children, it's really awful. Well done on the woodpeckers, I think I've heard one once but never seen one. Nectaroscordum siculum? Another one on the list then..Arb, glad you have a good time, though busy
Lovely stairs too. Don't think I ever saw that bit.
YBE, the make flowers are straight up and down stalks, the female ones have a small bump at the bottomAnd I'm glad someone else described the fertilisation sensitively
lovely roses too. I agree about maybe him having to go if he's going to be obstreperous about plant buying. we don't need that kind of negativity.
I'm now obsessed by bee bums...so here's a different plant, some stridolo,
I fear I'm going to have to assume the position of Dustys encounter before long.So I splurged on two very large clay pots for my olive trees yesterday, mixed up the magic stuff that they will live in [ horticutural grit, compost, and gravel from the cats litter tray], fingers crossed they like their new homes. I also bought a geum yesterday, called Alabama Slammer, looks very pretty but it had a bit of a shock this morning when I split it in two, but it's not likely to flower much this year so this way, I get two nicely established ones to plant out next year.I've also dicovered one of my neighbours works in a garden centre so look at me making contacts to feed my addiction...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -
And while the commentating does get on my nerves, I'm looking forward to seeing some Chelasea stuff...

That’s on my list for tomorrow Less, some different compost stuff something. I might even have to splurge on a couple of actual Tomorite (sp?) growbag *sigh* They’re just not having it, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Probably I had all my luck last year with that forest.Gawd 2p that is a sight for sore eyes/noses. The whole setup is actually. The purple wosnames at the bottom of your wall, and the (appears to be, I’m on my phone now) hedge made of daisies. And he little cornflowers, and whatever that red plant is, and an iris
I’ll look out the box for my nectaroscordum sicilum if you like? Or did you mean Dusty’s one? Your stridolo look appealing… And yes he is getting obstreperous, decidedly so. I might claim the cooker’s knacked and not feed him this week.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5
