Just come here to swear, a lot. Knocked my coleus & sunflowers seeds off the window sill, damp compost everywhere, and doubtful if any survivors.F%@?*****Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8

Could you scoop the whole mess up into a big pot and call it a Happy Accident, a la Bob Ross?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6

International Kidney are Jersey Royals, if you can get hold of them, throw a bunch of seaweed on them, hopefully youll get the same taste.

Farway said:F%@?*****The kids had never heard it, so they thought it must be very rude. In fact, a Piddock is a shellfish!I expect some of your seeds will still come through if you follow Bluey's advice. In fact, I bet you already have!"Everything's just f.....ine!"7

Raining out there this morning and has been for a couple of hours. Only gently though cos there's no wind. Still mild too but next week it's downhill temp wise apparently. I bet they'll have got that bit right cos my apple and pear are just about to burst into life
I was out looking for a spot to put my 2 'cherries' yesterday. When I came back to the car someone had left two shopping baskets on my bonnet, so I slung them in my boot and came home... Thing is, what do I do with them now?! They're the old style wire ones, one has blue handles the other black. I don't recognise where they're from so I could do with some ideas/advice about what to plant in themWould some black plastic in the bottom, holes poked for drainage, compost in and then seeds/bulbs be alright...? What sort of seeds/bulbs would be good for that depth?
Or, to try and square up my karma, I could put up a pic and I'll take them back if yous know where they're from? (I'd sooner plant stuff in them tho)

Depending on the condition, you could treat them like hanging baskets? Using that moss stuff or a felted basket liner (I think you can pick them up cheap at pound shops this time of year). Might be good with some hanging tomatoes/strawberries etc

Farway, been there, done that. Exasperating doesn't even cover it.
Just repot or multi pot, they'll be fine.
Then make yourself your favourite drink and bickies as a reward
Bluey that mde me laugh. Real hanging baskets....how about tumbling toms, lettuce, spring onions to keep with the theme?
Interesting tip about the Jersey royals Wort. Next year I'm guessing they'd need planting?
It's milder here, raining occasionally precisely timed to occour when I've got washing out, cleaned the car or planned a walk. But thank goodness the cold has gone.
Typical March here......the sun comes out, hits the cold wet ground and makes thick chilly mist and stillness.
Dusty, Greencombe opens in April sometime.
I have a free day. Not sure whether to do some of the many jobs or go out for a drive.
Everything is bursting into bloom, daffs are going over so it's definitely spring.
Crow seems to have finally moved on so blackbirds singing and birds wizzing across the garden.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

twopenny said:Dusty, Greencombe opens in April sometime. Thanks, I'll check it out.Just a reminder to Bluey that it was the Spring Solstice at 03.00 today, so any talk about it getting colder may be simply more propaganda from the East.
I personally witnessed a video of Carol Kirkwood in flip-flops and a tee shirt on X. OK, it was shot on a potato, and I'm not sure about the variety, but it was definitely her.
The rest of my musings on lost supermarket paraphernalia will have to wait. My earlier post suffered a similar fate to Farway's seeds, being obliterated by a power cut, just before sending.Country living!
Hope today is not too sad, poppy."Everything's just f.....ine!"3 -
That was anther good link, thank you Arb
I'll have to check my seed mountain but I don't think I've got tumbling toms that would suit, but maybe one of the others would do rightly. Mind I've yet to open all those GW mags so you never know your luck.
Strawbs and toms would be good or lettuce etc if I've not got the right toms. I'll battle the roadworks and nip to B+M and see about matting or coir lining or something. The baskets are in good nick I'd say, I was proper chuckling when I came back and saw them. The thing is I was in a large park, nowhere near a sm so where did they come from?! My squiggly brain is loving the notion that my hanging baskets will literally be hanging baskets - there's something very pleasing about that
Unless your jobs are desperate 2p I'd be out driving. The tourist hordes will be there soon enough and then you'll have all the hours in the world to do dull but necessary jobs.
And can I just say - anyone managing to get Jersey Royals right (like wot they used to be) please plant plenty and I'll have the spares off you. God but I do miss them.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Sunny, a bit insipid but certainly sunshine. My seed mishap, I did scoop up what there was, before I trod it into the carpet
. I think I have maybe 7.5 coleus seedlings, out of over twenty, left, the sunflowers had not germinated so gawd knows if they will come through or not.
Oh well, with what is going on it the world 'tis but a scratch. Now then Blue & Co looking for fruit trees, I stumbled across a new, to me, method of planting the blighters. Check out YouTube for High Density planting.Basically bung about three fruit trees into the same very large hole, spaced about 2 feet apart. Of course, they will not grow tall & strong for you to sit under sipping Mint Juleps, but that is not what is wanted, fruit of different varieties, convenience, space-saving and spreading the harvest time is the target.Worth a look & a ponder if some space, but not enough for all your fruity ambitionsYBE Hanging [shopping] baskets, dredging memory bank I remember supermarkets withdrew the baskets at one stage, maybe when bag charging came in? Shady folk taking them home instead of buying a previously free bag. Then using them as hanging baskets. Or maybe just borrowing them for summer?Hanging toms would do well, if you don't have any luck in your mags there are bound to be all sorts of offers next Easter weekend, free P & P, or half price seeds for instance, possibly worth waiting?Loads of buds just waiting to pop, next door's Concorde pear will be a picture again, and just right timing to pollinate mine, as cunningly plannedHere's the seed disasterEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7
