Those  leaves look like something out of triffids or that insect eating plant!
The toothed edges are some serious statement.

Bluey your photo of the crocus and good insect was brilliant! Professional worthy or at least front page.

Loved the frost patterns too. Nature makes some wonderful patterns if allowed.

It's been sunny and 16c here today and a real spring day with chirping birds and all so I've done a mass of grout whitening, planted the Tesco apple, the red currants, the mystery tree that seems to be climbing skywards and repotted the Christmas tree.
Then I was in agony having done too much but at last the moving has been done and it's suggested rain tomorrow for the watering in........
Oh and I got a load of washing done and dry.

Do I believe Farway just vanished - or was he just off to do some TM orders

Do we know what cat wee tree actually is? 

If I can remember that far back, think one of my suggestions was for blackthorn (which has sticky leaves and sloes with cherry like stones) but I can't see any 'thorns' and those are fiercely spiky leaves!

You have seen that one. I posted a similar picture on 22nd February! The one I posted was a 'wild' specimen, but there are garden varieties, usually with black, yellow, or reddish foliage.

Farway will know it, for sure.

I don't know what cat wee tree is Arb tbh. It's some breed of a thorn but whether it's may or haw or what I don't know. It has pretty little white flowers and red berries and the birds like it, and the sticky leaves are just getting going now. On the bright side I now have a space! There's not much round it cos I was leaving it room to grow, you know, cherry trees being big an' all    Mind Lidl had lots of fruit trees and bushes in the other day... maybe I fancy a plum, but they had Stella cherry too...

That's a good lot of work you got done 2p. What's your mystery tree do you think? Yeah I liked the crocus+critter pic, it was a quick point and shoot cos he just landed, took a breath and flew away again. His wings were more iridescent than the pic shows. Bugs in general are waking up round here

Bit cooler out there this morning, 6' and kinda humid. The sun's up though and no descending pluvial nonsense forecast. They got it right yesterday to within a few minutes, so maybe Drunkards PLC has revoked the company credit card

I think it's a Hawthorn, Bluey. Blackthorn are already flowering and have simpler leaves. I saw some making a lovely display on Saturday, but it was pelting with rain and there was nowhere to pull-in and take a picture.   

I'm surprised your other tree is causing you confusion, 'cos it's dead common. Here's another clue: people are known to make wine and jelly preserve from the fruit, or flavour drinks with the flowers.

More confusion, too, over on the BBC this morning.  Against the headline, “Government told heat pump sales need massive jump,” they have this picture showing a guy installing what's usually a wood burner flue nowadays:

Anyway, despite 'Putin,' last week, I bought 900 litres of oil for our boiler at the cheapest price it's been for ages. I'd certainly look at a heat pump, but with free solar helping us on sunnier days via a 30' conservatory, plus cheap wood, my first port of call would be electrical panels and one of Mr Musk's batteries. We upgraded the roof for that and installed the heat store, then ran out of £££! :'(

Today looks to be dry with potentially 13c at best, with tomorrow and Wednesday supposed to be similar. Is that a mistake too?

My confusion/ignorance knows no depths Dusty. Seems like for every one thing I learn, two things have to be booted out to make room 

I saw that picture this morning, I did wonder if heat pumps come with a flue to take the electricity vapours away...

From what I've seen of heat pumps so far there's a difference between us being told to move to tiny houses with only an electric supply and the stuff they now say is essential.

Not sure of the temperature but its bright and sunny and I had my mug of tea sat in the garden while admiring my efforts of yesterday - seeing as my bones are scuppered for a while now.
Not warm enough to amble and fiddle with the weeds yet though.

No I got out of the habit of looking at the front page when the loading went pear shaped and I've got those loading spinning things again 
I'll check now.....

Back again, and resisted T & M enticements . Got mixed up in web hosting and gawd knows what and still waiting for Support Ticket response. But it's a free hosting site for the volunteer place, so can't really moan a that price.

As Dusty says, you can make lots of stuff from them, including super sparking “Champagne” & a port like wine, Hic

I have made both in the past, and they really do make superb home wines, or for TT types, a cordial or tea

A great plant, but needs room, somewhere is a collection, come in all shapes & sizes.

Posh chefs dip flowers in batter and charge arms & legs for them

Catch, some flowers smell of wee, like the one you have, others smell lovely. Sods law, you seem to have the first one, but no reason to think the rest will follow. If you've space & time, let them flower and then decide.

While the thought of juicy plums & cherries is tempting, every creature on the planet loves them as much as we do. I've had my cherry for years and, despite netting, have only managed to eat about six of the cherries before the hordes of slugs & birds got the rest.

Just get a nice apple, or if you get a pear, just bear in mind my should be Doyenne Du Comice is really some hard red pear and came from Lidl

Hmmm contemplation needed. Don't know that I fancy an elderflower tbh, I'd sooner take my chances against the birds and slugs for cherries. Possibly. I reckon I'd give elderflower champagne a go though - I remember years ago watching a prog (think it was Huge Furry-Whippingtool off of that River Cottage series) where he made elderflower champagne in a waterbutt. IIRC it was about as much luck as judgment.
