Nope no men on the greenhouse roof
Plenty of bird !!!!!! though
Okay so the window has been put back in properly but as the arm of the opening mechanism is buckled it will fall out again if the window opens
So I have popped out the wax cylinder that makes it open and close until I get a new autovent opener
My fault it is buckled as I am supposed to take it out in winter/windy weather
A few times it has been sunny and really windy and the window opens and then gets bounced in the wind6 -

I have no idea where it came from, but it's a lovely size/weight.
*Can you tell I haven't a clue about the tree?*
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5 -
Don't worry AR, neither have I !! The blue pot came from the same friend that gave me the bay..they are quite weightyYes, the green one is attached to to the brown one but is fine for some reason, it's also the only bit that flowers. The tree we had cut down used to shelter it so maybe that's why but I don't get why it's all not brown...Shame because the brown bit was growing really well until now. It had been in a pot for twenty years until a friend gave it to me and it was just three spindly twigs. Those two parts [ brown and green] are what remain after I cut the other one off.Well done on mcgyvering the window catch patsapur...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

I might hold fire on major pruning of the bay until seeing if new growth sprouts from the wind-scorched side. After all, if those bits are dead, they won't be any more dead in April.A major cut-back and re-shaping will be needed if they are. Bays are usually quite tough old things...or at least ours is, sitting out front at 500' with nothing much for shelter. It must have survived -15c in its time.

My but the rain is so heavy it woke me up!
Still going until at least lunch time and the temperature has dropped from 13 to 6
So gardening off again for today. Not even an outing because of the flooding.
Lots to do inside so apart from the cost of heating just a delay.
I didn't need a weather forecast. Went for a walk around the ponds yesterday evening and all the ducks, geese and little birds were sheltering already. I guess they knew what was coming.
Did you get your car sorted yesterday Bluey or are we going to have to send food packages to jail?
It will be soft food.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

First things first. Can you all stop being funny with the Benny Hill theme tune and the car battery and the barn and the McGyvering cos I've just blown snot+coffee all over my laptop and it's taken me ages to get it cleaned up!
taff your tree - I agree with Dusty. It's looking like it's half dead but it was in a different situation before so it might decide to have another go now it's not sheltered. Surely if it was a disease or summat the whole thing would be dead? So I'd leave it. You're welcome, and I'll take that blue pot as payment
That's a beggar about not having 4 men on your roof pas, but if your weather is like mine the guano will be cleaned off in no time!
OT - raining, lots, and windy. It was beautiful when I got up this morning, dry and calm and the air was so soft and cool, it was lovely.
Not OT - I've got my car sorted. Bit of a saga but the gist is this (cos I learned something and I don't think it's well known) so to save anybody else getting tripped up by it here's the lesson - when you move house and change your driving license you have to separately do your keeper's slip. It's not all in one like the Tell Us Once service. If those addresses don't match you can't tax or insure your car. The hole I fell down was my addresses didn't match (V5C still said my Lincs address) so that's where they sent the reminders and threats and stuff. But the address on my dl is right so the debt collection agency sent their letter here. The 2 depts don't talk to each other or check with each other, evidently. Seems like an obvious and easy fix to me but what do I know. The lady at the post office was very helpful though, she said it happens A LOT. So there you are.
Also - no gardening. I think my ska tree has a bud on it though... if the rain lightens up a wee bit I'll nip out and try to get a pic.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
Yep car sorted 2p, so keep hold of the food packages
I survived the Kafka loop but didn't end up with a Porsche. I wouldn't thank you for a Porsche tbh but have you seen the new Morgan plus six's? Ooh giggity! A plus four would do too. I love the new colour range
ETA - colour range
8' here and rain 'til Kingdom Come. Possibly.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Well Ventusky we’re on fire 🔥 yesterday with their report and it’s showing same again, chucking it down till 2pm then clearing but wind 💨 gusting then. Looks like there’s no weather in between 9 pm and midnight though.
My bay was not hardy it was in a pot and went brown with the cold like that one ☝️🫣 hope it is salvageable as it’s a biggie. I do what the real garden on here say and watch and wait.
Thanks for the reminder of the aquilegia. Dusty sent me some seeds which I planted ,should they be sprouted yet?Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
I'm not visiting anyone in jail today, the weather is atrocious! We had sleet so loud I thought the roof had failed, it sounded like it was bouncing in the house. Of course, if it clears up, that may be another matter. I do have some fetching green wellies I can don in a garden emergency...Sorry paspatur, for comepletely spelling your name so wrong it became a new place entirely....I should know better because I goggled it once to see what it was....wort, commiserations in unity...

wort said:Thanks for the reminder of the aquilegia. Dusty sent me some seeds which I planted ,should they be sprouted yet?It depends on where they are. Outdoors, probably not. With weather like we've had, I'd stay dormant too if I could!Looking at those Morgans, Bluey, reminds me of when I joined the office football pools syndicate, aged 19. That first week, there were only 8 draws and someone 'thought' we had them all. They phoned me with the good news and I went off to Earls Court Motor Show, confident I'd soon be buying one of the many offerings.Well, it didn't quite work out as imagined. The person with the 'perm' or whatever it was called, soon realised we could only get 7 draws and an away win. I wasn't told.
Worse, when I actually sat in a Morgan Plus 8, it was gigantic compared with my weedy frame and I could barely see over the massively long bonnet! The steering wheel was like something from a ship.
We ended up with a second prize shared with A.N.Other. After being divided among about 7 or 8 people, it wasn't exactly life-changing.I left the syndicate and never looked at a Morgan again. It had another major fault; no back seat!
OT: Raining hard here for hours, just for a change. Might see some sunshine pm, but not free of the wet stuff, either then or in the next few days."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6
