Warning heeded re ibuprofen, thanks Farway. I'll struggle on during the day and just have 2 before bedtime then. It is lifting gradually tbh, it's only in 2 toes now and I'm quite adept at hobbling on the side of my heel. Funny how the old sayings turn out to be true - granny always said to take tablets with milk for it'll protect your stomach, so that's what I do. I was reading a thing the other day about tablets they give you to protect your stomach when you're on strong painkillers, they contain calcium and a bit of fat to line your stomach. I wonder if there's a book with them all in... here's the old sayings, here's why they're properly scientifically true or false. I'd buy that. I'm keeping my eye out for wort's nettle tea. Lovely neighbour took me shopping yesterday but I didn't see any. Possibly the Oracle will have a supply... :fingerscrossed:
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say your DGD's sunrise photo is the best picture of the year. I know it's only the middle of January but still, that is absolutely heavenSurely to god that'll make the front page.
Did you have a good session with the physio 2p? Hopefully you got a bit of ease out of it
Bladdy hell Pas, that looks like you got my and everyone elses snow! And you haven't even had a run round in it! I'll take a pic of my bulbs soaked through then frozen solid tub. I'll be that happy if they come out of it
I'll go feed the birds in a minute and see what's occurring out there. Phone says -2 feels like -5. Lovely and bright though, there's not a cloud up there. We've had some mesmerising starry skies here in the evenings, if it wasn't so cold I could sit out there just gazing up.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Yes, that's a good thing about the cold snap at least - it's been lovely and dry!I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.3

Yep ever so dry Arb
Bulbs - nothing to see here. Note the green patches on the patio though, they appeared quite quickly considering they’re not down longAlso birdbath. Evidently water only expands in the middle when it freezes -I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Thought I posted yesterday . My back garden , today still snowy but frozen overnight. So not looking forward to having to walk to town for an appointment. Hoping the main paths may be better than the close.

Such pretty snowy pics
Yous must all be proper adults... if I woke up to that I'd be haring round it like a child

Morning folks.
2c at most and dark. Flat grey skies. None of the beautiful snow for which I'm grateful. I enjoy loking at the pretty pictures but not a fan of the real thing.
The Omeprazole, took that with the state of the art painkillers and ended up in casualty with horrendous stomach pains. But they must work for someone.
Physio was just questions and explanations. Aparantly very flexible for my age, she was impressed but ruptured bursa and no cartilage so going to have to change the way I live.
Swimming pool open, off for a warm swim and sauna then coffee.
I trimmed the lavender dead heads and bits and pieces yesterday by street light as it wasn't direly cold and draggged the little pot of bulbs I discovered, to the back door for a bit of cheer when they pop out.
The red rose is still blooming and my Jingle Bells is now flourishing which is cheering. Bit rambling so needs bringing into a bunch. That's going to be a prickly job because it's got itself in the massive rambling rose!
Hope your feeling better Arbs with your busy week ahead.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

My problem with the forsythia is it grows taller after I cut it back after flowering, so I have to keep cutting it .It grows very tall within a a month or so. I know the flowers come on the old wood so keep it back to that level.
YBE I fancied sledging or snowball fight on the field at the back but couldn’t find any takers 😂Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Ooh if you'd asked me I'd have been right there wort
Fingers crossed you're not struck down with the dreaded lurgy Arb. Hopefully it's a bit of nothing that'll soon shift and you can enjoy the circus
Edit - we're all posting at once! That's good re the physio 2p, enjoy your warm swim and saunaI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Ooh, I had the same with the stomach protecting tablets (Lansoprazole??) when taking Naproxen - really bad stomach pains. I didn't end up in casualty but had to take a couple of days off work. Shame though because the Naproxen really helped and I had to stop taking them
I actually think the stomach tablets were the problem as the pains started after taking them and before taking the Naproxen.
Lovely snowy pic, Wort.
It's white again here this morning, not proper snow, just a dusting. 11.1 degrees in the front room after the storage heater had been on overnight - I don't know why I bother...
I fed the birds first thing and a lovely thrush type bird came down and grabbed some before being chased off by a blackbird. I tried to get a pic but my phone said no.

That was exactly my experience Pp.
Great stuff, till it wasn't.
Yes birds, just a little bit of sweet singing first thing. Not a dawn chorus but a bit of tentative practice.
Seems the crow has moved away which it does end of winter and the blackies come back then.
So hopefully they know something we don't and better weather is round the corner.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
