We have snow this morning - not the thick Aberdeen stuff, but it's still falling and at the 'looking pretty' stage. When we first moved here we were told by the locals that we don't get snow here...You being where you are, that's close to true, but even in Aberdeen they aren't any colder than the middle of England, and that's down to about -4c at night. We were at -2c around dawn; not really worth turning off the outside taps. It looks like everywhere's going to warm up a bit at the weekend, when rain will come along again.I know it's not easy, evaluating things from one location, but so far this winter looks about normal.
Still a long way to go, though!

Dentist done, so far so good.
Physio, done. Really helpful. Appointment for 3weeks time for more questions, hopefully some exercises.
So I'm trying to keep 2 weeks with no disasters and do some fun things.
Looked at the garden because the sun is glowing through the cloud but still cold, touching 4c and I don't know where to start. So I haven't.
That hydrangea is determined Bluey. Shoots already. They'll probably get hit with frost, snow, rain, slugs but it's obviously got its roots down so will come again.
Wort, you prune forsythia after flowering for best flowers next year. The cuttings will root in water.
Pp, enjoy the pretty snow bit and hope it's melted by morning.
Dusty, shudder for a whole body medical......too many things for them to criticise.
Farway you really are a bad influence! I was eyeing up a white and pink Euronymous in the hospital car park thinking it needed a little pruning. I would remove the cuttings of course so as not to litter the area.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Good news health wise 2p and Dusty. S’funny, that’s how I discovered my low bp, hoying it up the stairs for a wee while the ads were on ha haa! I managed to stay upright though, thank god.Enjoy the snow, everyone that’s got some ⛄️ I’m not jealous at all!I know they say pride comes before the fall, but I’m pleased as punch with my hydrangea. I bought this one to replace the last one that was there, which died for absolutely no godam reason. Just goes to show that sometimes it’s not user error :clapping:
I’m grateful even to be hobbling tbh. Iboprofen is the answer I think, paracetamol doesn’t do a baddy thing for it. Hopefully it doesn’t come backI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -

Greenhouse hit -4.4c overnight and even without heating it is always warmer than outside
Wind chill is the problem, -9 overnight and -10 tonight
Biggest problem is the depth of snow in places increased by the wind blowing it
I'll take a photo of a pot of bulbs as they are now and again when they flower in a few months, just to reassure YBE that bulbs getting soaked won't stop them!!!5 -
Here are the snowy bulbs today7

That's some sunrise, Farway. Such pristine snow! It wasn't a bad one here, but nothing like that.twopenny said:Dusty, shudder for a whole body medical......too many things for them to criticise.

BMI. urine, blood, blood pressure and a few pointy questions like how many units of alcohol a week? etc. As if we'd say if it was 52!!You've reminded me about the hebe I 'pruned' before Christmas. Must check up on it in the cold frame.

And the wind chill is indeed what often determines whether people engage with the outdoors. Here, it's been as still as a millpond, so I've not even worn a jacket this afternoon. Had my Long Johns and thermal beanie on, though!6

Ooh, that's lovely proper snow, Paspatur. We had a covering here (note the past tense), but nothing like that.
Farway, your GD's pic is just gorgeous.
YBE, glad your tootsies are on the mend.
Our snow has been and gone, just like that. We had rain this afternoon, but the forecast is sub-zero temperatures overnight, so I think the roads will be like ice rinks tomorrow...'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
I don't know how you do it Dusty - made of sterner stuff them me obviously
It's 'only' been 3 degrees yesterday, 4 degrees today (lowest at 0 overnight) and I'm really feeling it this week, even with the heating on and an electric throw. Must be coming down with something...
I unpacked my forgotten plants, put the packet of leek bulbils in the fridge (as recommended on the packet - 'plant in autumn or spring' apparently so they can wait until late Feb I guess), and even got as far as tipping a bag of compost into a large tub. Gave up at that point as the compost was frozen fairly solid so it was a bit of a workout and I needed to sit down with a nice warm cuppa.
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5
