Ooh pp is my stoopid brain making me misremember? I thought you someone said they were going on the same cruise as wort and it looked like they'd be going when wort got back..? Was it wellies was it..? Ok scratch that then
Have you not fetched your calamondin in yet? What's stopping you doing it right now? Calamondin dreamin'.... on such a frosty daaaay
Your street names story made me giggle Dusty. Remember we went to York a few weeks ago? Well there's a new road on the way with a big new roundabout on it, and round the side of the roundabout they've built a housing estate. Guess what they called it? Yep Oceanic View (or summat). The only way those houses could see the ocean is if they raised them 1000ftI'm all for a dry sense of humour, but that just seemed like mocking to me.
If you've not seen Shawshank 2p, I'd recommend it. It's about a fellah who gets jailed for murdering his wife and her lover, and his life in jail, how he gets through it, the friends he makes etc. Some parts of it are dark but it's definitely worth watching. The ending isn't dark at allI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -

Probably built with help from Ocean Finance! There used to be a brilliant Ocean Finance type spoof on YT where they changed the dialogue. Had me reaching for an incontinence pad, but of course, they took it down.It was based on this one. They kept the accent, but words like 'scooter' became 'shooter' and so on. Lots of spoof ads, but few rivalled that one.Edit: 8.4% ....ouch!............and https://www.fscs.org.uk/making-a-claim/failed-firms/picture/

Dull but dry, just bleh reallyYoungBlueEyes said:So there’s hope for my alliums then, if they sprayed their seeds about before I got to them… it’s a possibilityCould you do some alliums in a pot Farway, if it’s your soil they don’t like? Or is it a geographical/aspect thing?I think in the ground it's geography, maybe not dry enough, or the oppositeMaybe time to put Alliums back on my list, a job for over ChristmasFor street names, until recently I had Yorkshire police station on Letsby Avenue as the top one, but just yesterday I heard that Everton football club shop in Liverpool's posh shopping district is called Everton Two.So its address is Everton Two, Liverpool One.YBE, squirrel baffles, there's may a waster hour wasting on YT with videos showing them, one series I think is a professor who keeps trying and squirrels keep beating itNo gardening today, but may quickly investigate Alliums with envyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

Hmm... still no gardener to help me plant trees (the message has been 'read' confirming delivery) - no problem, we didn't set a time, but any advice on storing bare root and presumably dormant trees for an extended period given the temp is forecast to drop at the weekend?
They're currently propped up near the shed in a sheltered spot but I'm thinking move inside the shed (single skin aluminium with a raised wood base). Or do I need to think about pantry space?I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.2 -

Or do I need to think about pantry space?I assume the roots are wrapped in something, like peat / moss / poly bag and not just really bare?If so then inside your shed sounds ideal, cool but out of any drying windsIf the roots really are bare, do you have a bucket you could stand them in and pour compost on top?Weather here is just dull again, supposed to brighten later but I shan't be out in the garden, too cold & dull right nowJust seen pictures of RHS Wisley lights, the coloured ones in trees type, Glow, looks very nice, but I'll skip it, again

Bare root trees are be best heeled-in, Arb, somewhere sheltered, where they can be supported by a fence or shrubs. If root wrapped with straw or similar, OK in the shed for a while. We didn't have any problem growing garlic chives at our old place with completely different soil from the acid stuff here, so that's an allium you could consider, Farway. They don't take up much space, look pretty enough, and being edible's a bonus too.Drizzle currently, giving way to sporadic sunshine, and then cloud thereafter, meaning no meteor showers observable here tonight.I bet your Calamondin is OK poppy. It's likely to sulk and drop its leaves, but you'll probably have seen off a few bugs, leaving it outside.Had a call from the local garden centre this morning; my friend's Malus Scarlett is in, so we'll have to pop over for it, possibly via the local chippie in that area.Apparently, it still has some leaves. I can believe that too, as some trees here seem not to have noticed the season, especially Pyrus 'Chanticleer.'

We don't cook with them much, because we like the flowers.Yes, the tree is the commemorative one, chosen with thought and care. The lady who obtained it for us is used to ordering much the same stock year-on-year, so while it was 'new' to her, it's been around over 20 years. She sounded quite impressed by the leaves and fruit, so fingers crossed. This is our Pyrus 'Chanticleer,' discovering the time of year yesterday!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Woohoo for calamondin pp:clapping: You got it inside just in time for all that mild weather coming
I like the look of those lights Farway, very festive. I bet they'll be rammed when the kids get off school. Your chive flowers are very pretty - do they smell like garlic or chives or anything..? Don't know if I should look up clever squirrels on ootoob, even if it is a professor trying to outwit them. That sounds proper rabbit-hole territory and I'd be sat here all day. Same goes for spoof ads actually
Your tree looks like you're about 2 months behind us weatherwise Dusty. Other than my roses I've barely a leaf out there! My diddy rose hasn't opened, it's just quietly dying I think, and then that'll be me with no flowers at all. Even my hebe hasn't produced anything. And my fuschias and clematis evidently have Norwegian DNA too (that made me giggle Farway). I followed the destructions on the labels and planted them rightly and they're dying anyway. They were only morries but that's not the point. People shouldn't be allowed to sell suicidal plants imo. I think I'll take some pics in case anyone has any suggestions cos I'd sooner they lived, if possible.
Weather a bit nothingy here too. It was cloudy but bright enough yesterday (just bright enough to show the muck on my windows  ) Not particularly cold or windy though. Cool today, possibly, and the breeze is picking up, maybe. No rain forecast for a few days now, they say.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4
