Good luck tomorrow!
Sorry to hear about your mum, it's such a cruel disease - not just for her but for you also - sending a hug your way 🤗
It's lovely to have a reminder of happier days of long ago am, cribbage doesn't seem to be popular anymore. I guess the kids of today are stuck into their tablets etc so the new generation won't even know what half of the older games are lolJust my opinion, no offence 🐈2 -
Wet again, at least not under a layer of snow like someI was forced into playing crib but I never really enjoyed it got the hang of it, similar result with dominoes, best part was standing a line up & knocking it downEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3

Another hater of all card games here, but I will happily accede to a round or two of Scrabble. Monopoly has become rather too much like real life nowadays!Anyway, another dreich day and the rest of the trellis for the rose arch is being made under cover.....2

Rain/sleet all day here so I'm not going out except for parsley for a sauce. Dozens of birds on the feeders, a sure sign the cold has settled in.
Trying to encourage mum to knit which she can do but she's not satisfied knitting a square. That's for children! She wants to make something, i.e. follow a pattern but her memory won't let her do that. So I am knitting a square having told her if we knit 16 squares we can make a baby blanket. (I had to invent a baby) Aiming for a sampler with a different pattern on each one. I'm not a 'knitter' (just know basics) so I'll be learning too. Happy days!
Dave, can't wait to see pictures of the trellis please.

in_my_wellies said:Dave, can't wait to see pictures of the trellis please. It's not very exciting, or quite fixed-in yet, but when it is I'll do a photo. Stupidly, I made the first panel a tight fit, thinking it would shrink when it dried, but it's still quite damp and won't go in without a fight!Instead. here is a very long range photo of a bird that visits us every year. It's roughly sparrow sized, potters about among the stones on the drive and there only ever seems to be one of it. We've seen one like it most winters since 2010. Any ideas?

Dunnock? I had one today but yours looks lighter/more colourful2
-
Could it be a yellowhammer or a corn bunting?2
-
Thanks, both. Dunnocks are resident here, but having studied a video of Yellowhammers, I think that could be our bird. I really need a better picture showing the beak clearly,, but it was hard enough getting that one. Why only one at a time remains a mystery.

imw - sorry to hear about your mum. I learned bridge at school and enjoyed it but hated the mah jong we had at home. I'm wondering if your mother might like cleaning silver or jewellery or sorting things like my sewing boxes and baskets, also cross stitch kits where the colours are printed on the canvas can be nice. There are some lovely ones here
