Speaking of common things that please me, here’s a pic I took the other day. It’s one of the strawbs I bought months ago but it didn’t flower or fruit. But this almost makes up for it
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Well the predictions were for sunshine at day and it was this morning.
Cloud came in quick so changed my tee shirt for fleece and umbrella.
Out today if the leg holds up.
Remind me, when is this heatwave coming?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Raining ☔️ here, chilly indoors so sat under blanket since getting up. Plan was to chop in dd s garden but rain stopped play on that.
Twas nice yesterday ,I was at the dentist for checkup, but got washing on line before heading off.
Work tomorrow, but weekend off hurrah for the sun ☀️ bedding sat waiting for its turn outside.
I could sit in that pic Dusty with a nice glass of something cold .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3 -
No heatwave here yet, just dull & bleurgh out there at the moment, on a promise for hazy sun, maybeSounds like a tropical paradise there 2P, with stuff still fruiting & cropping. My beans are now brown husks, on purpose I should add, saving them for seed. If I CBA later today, I'll pick & store them, or may leave to finally harden in the weekend heatYoungBlueEyes said:
Farway a good few years ago I got myself a box of dark choc brazils in Lidl in their christmas offerings. The choc had orange oil in itI wish I'd bought a dozen boxes cos I've never seen them again and they were delish
Are you allowed to change your answer..?
Just checked, no they do exist, added to my next shop as trial run for Christmas tooth rot. There's also a vegan one, but that may be pushing it too far, and warns without any hint of irony it "may contain milk"
Nothing garden planned, maybe dead head the dahlias again, and pick the dry beansMy potted on T & M pansy plugs are outside now, getting hardened off, I don't want them leggy from being in the conservatory too longEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3 -
wort said:I could sit in that pic Dusty with a nice glass of something cold .As I recall, last year we did, but the price of the 'cold something' was kinda severe!I might feature a few more Rosemoor shots from my archive as the number of attractive images around this place dries up over the darker months. It's a shame to leave them 'unexposed,' so to speak.Lots going on here, with collecting all the grass I've cut since the mower was fixed, getting the logs into the shed and putting the sliding door running gear on the west end of the polytunnel. Yesterday was dry, but unremarkable in other respects. In my spare time,
I've also put together a response to the planners, who are trying to use obfuscation rather than answer a direct question. It's delicate, telling them I know they're spouting nonsense, while at the same time not giving offence!
I'm giving in gracefully, because I want their piece of paper saying "Approved" to wave at our neighbours. It's just a matter of what size brown envelope now
Drunkards have us sunny at present, which it's not, but cloudy later. Cloudy all day then!

Hold the renaming ceremony - the drunkards we’re wrong
Raining here and I was cracking on getting my bulbs in
Yeah I remember orange kitkats, passable but not worth the money iirc. There was a brief production of white choc vanilla ones that I lifted for himself and he pronounced them disgusting. Trying to think if I’ve seen dark choc orange kitkats… I might have made that up.I only quickly popped on to say ‘look what I found’! Common things wot make me happy no5 -There’s only 3 leaves atm but it might go mad 🤞🏻😃(That’s the corner where all the extra building stuff is so I’ve not got it all weeded yet.)I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -

Hate to bring bad news, but it's an annual & frost will may do for it, but if it has sprung up could be more seeds lurking?Off to dead head the dahlias now, I'm dodging filling in an amended Tax form, you are not the only one with official obfuscation Dusty, but never argue with Tax man, [or Planner?] sure to loseI do miss the local office where you could at least talk face to face and explain with bits of paper

Hi all. Sorry I haven't caught up but 30 pages is a bit much so suffice to say I hope all gardens are at the state they shoud be at this time of year. I spent a couple of hours in mine yesterday and another hour today taking it down for winter. Instead of trying to chop everything small for the compost bins this year I've just laid it on top of the earthso it can rot itself down. I've always got more for the bins anyway. I had some truly spectacular tromboncinos and marrows on my retun as OH picked some tomatoes and that was it, so they all went to the community fridge today for curries or whatnot and I cooked one for me. I needed an Ikea blue bag they were that big, thy filled it and I could just about carry it...The rocket has been put in a bag for the seeds, the sweet pea seeds have been collected, now I just have to work out when I can make a start on the front garden, removing the tree, finding a big bottomless planter for the grass and happy of happies, I discovered one of my thymes was a creeping one. All heucheras are growing well, so I've got about twenty odd plants out of two which is another bargain, especially the lovely soft russet colour one I like [ not the brash russet one] And this year, I am daring to hope my rosemary cuttings worked because they're not black yet. Plus, I have managed to grow a pencil cypress from seed. It's only an inch big but I have high hopes...So that's mostly the gardening news...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

Wow you've been busy! Looking forward to seeing the resultsLove the idea of having a community kitchen.Haven't done anything today, it was a day out and the leg's gone again. Hopes for tomorrow.Yesterday I got the tub with a few grass cuttings and prunings in the bottom. It had been under the bench and wisteria to keep it dryish but as I lifted it a couple of field mice came to the top and ran round in circles.I moved towards the shrubs and field boundry to tip them out and another came out and another. They had made a nice warm, cosy home in there and were frantic at the huge upheaval but so cute with little shiny black eyes keeping watch on me and an escape route.I tipped them by the shrubs and they ran as fast as they could. Not sure who was most shockedNo photos of that, it all happened so fast so here's one of an autumn spiders web and some fading roses. It's been dry and bright and not cold is all I can say about the weather. That will do me though for as long as possible.Bluey, is that wild strawberries you have there?

@twopenny - do not be nice to mice, please. We are overrun here in the middle of town, I've sent two heavenwards this week alone and am running out of plastic containers to put them in to carry the corpses out to the bins. We had the extermination people visit three weeks ago and set new bait in the roof space and other places and all they seem to have achieved is an increase in the birth rate so it is officially WAR now. One of my neighbours has conceived a fondness for them and bought humane traps of all the weak minded idiocies, he solemnly carries the trapped mouse down to the riverside and then releases it. I can't tell you how badly I had to bite my tongue as he was regaling me with this tale but I did manage not to say anything rude. Sorry about that, rant over now, you can come out from behind the sofa again!
Anyway I am enjoying all the lovely photos and reading everyones else's triumphs and tragedies and here's a photo from last year of a sumac just because the colours are so lovely.
