Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Dusty - have F15s/F35s/Tornados dogfighting overhead. I can't tell the difference between them (no idea what any of them are, just know that's what we get). It's very noisy and distracting. And quite terrifying if you actually see them as they appear to be inches away from each other.3

Aww I used to be able to watch all that from my back garden in Lincs, I loved to see them. I didn’t know the individual ones either but I never cared
I’ve had a few things in my hanging basket wort but they steadily died on me. So I thought well you can die as well in the bin as you can there so I swopped them outThese ones seem happy enough like. She said, cursing it.
The drunkards were right again today, I’ve 2 loads out blowing rightly! BBC and the sobers and the other one were wrong. The times they are a-changing….I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
Supposed to stop raining by 10 but more like 12 then slinging some wet down periodically.
And chiily. And both agreed so both wrong.
I too have had mobility issues so with wet gardenings not top of the list.
Instead started the mist coat on the bathroom. Seems there are a lot of little snags so glad I said I'd do the painting. My little revived £2 orchid is perfect there
Another that has had its second bloom seems to be making a new flower spike from a root. Time will tell.
Photos later.
Bluey, would your little flowers be Million Bells?
Not going to try the latin name!
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It's mainly smaller stuff. I suppose the mpg on the bigger planes is poor, so it's not really worth coming all the way down here just to scare a few cows!Lucky bag of weather for us today: fog, drizzle, bright sunshine, a couple of downpours and a few rainbows too. I took the ride-on through the chicken orchard and cut a few paths through what pass as lawns. None could be picked-up, but at least we aren't wading through it. I've never known grass grow so fast at this time of year.I wonder how wellies got on at Rosemoor today? This is an archive photo of it in early October, with some trees just beginning to show autumn colour. (Yes, that blooming oak tree again, but I love this view!
)

Well Wellies didn't get to Rosemoor today, change of plan by my elderly friend so we ended up at the new garden centre which does have a fantastic view (makes up for the food) She bought an apple tree which is tomorrows job for me. Another one doomed to a slow death but she is determined that it is possible to grow an orchard along the top of a Devon bank. I was disappointed to find not a single cobnut. There were dozens in August (I was sent a photo) but all gone now. Squirrels? Humans? I don't know but I sometimes think folk think a woman in her late 90s won't notice her fruit going.
I remember the cottage Dusty, I drove past it the other day and saw the building works. Better in their hands than mine. I just want to move in and live - I'm done with renovations!
I agree the large lavenders make a lovely hedge. There was one when we moved in in 1983, not new then. I moved away then back again and it was a little neglected but mostly it recovered. I suppose it became woody about 10 years ago and I gradually lost them. If well trimmed it will last but eventually it does get woody. Should have done cutting - ho-hum...
The only beautiful flower gardens where I went were behind high walls. The village in India where I volunteer is dusty and so poor they only grow vegetables or keep hens which seem to live on grit. Not a tourist area!
OT - The weather was fine and sunny today.Love living in a village in the country side4 -
They could well be million bells and something latin, I've no idea 2p. The pot they were in just said "bedding plant £1" They're still happy despite all the weather we've had so it was £1 well spent
So your bathroom's got all the big stuff done then? Must be a relief after all that time eh. Are the snags just little things..?
I love that view Dusty, I could sit there all day and just gaze. I'm gonna have to start wandering further and into different places, see if I can spot some good colour changing trees. Not spotted anything good, so far.
I'd say prolly humans and squirrels wellies. The squirrels here are relentless and I don't think I even have that many of them. If you've got more than half a dozen it's no wonder there's none left
So, you were in India! Exciting. What were you volunteering at...?
Nothing startling in the sunset/sunrise stakes here. The moon last night had an orangey tinge to it but it didn't come out on a picI'm still going with the drunkards so I've put another wash on... Interestingly they don't agree with Ventusky, who says lots of cloud and a breeze, drunkards say mostly sunny and a proper wind. Hmm we'll see.

'Million Bells' is just a specialised breeding from good ol' Petunias. 'Cali- something' is the breeders' name for it. Petunias have a lot going for them in sheltered environments. I remember taking cuttings from Surfinia types and keeping them going for yonks.Much as though I'd have liked to have you as a neighbour, wellies, that bijou cottage was best avoided. I read the conservation officer's survey report, and although she granted the double glazing, she doomed the place in other ways. She suggested the use of gypsum plaster would mean it would remain damp indefinitely, and the road noise would probably mean installing secondary glazing at a later date. No favours done there!I know the GC with the fantastic view.
By heck, they've thrown some money at that recently, but it sounds like the food isn't right yet.
I must have a poke around in there soon to see what it's like, or just to take in that view.
Edit: All our hazelnuts are down now, so you might find some atthe base of the tree. Our walnuts were also on the ground, but fortunately, nothing found them before me."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity3 -
Late arrival, it was GC prowling this morning, nothing bought but eyed up some pansies & lavender, both were 3 for a tenner so at least I have a figure should Monies fail me when I try themDishwater cup of tea as wellThe attached Farm Shop had cob nuts on sale, loose, not bushes. Never bought them, did fancy the posh dark chocolate covered Brazils though, never bought them either but idea sown for Christmas presentNo gardening today apart from that bit of GC prowling & Christmas present gift idea sowingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3

My Christmas present Farway? Not sure the teeth are up to it
Unpredicted heavy showers with very brief sunny spells so gardening was erratic.
I got the raspberries tied up so I could weed and tidy. Weeded the veg plots and got some old tiny plants planted.
Even put the beans back up for the umpteenth time and a couple of meals from themthey're still flowering and producing!!
Cheapo clematis is blooming but scraggy with the winds.
Raspberries still coming just but still poor flavour
The dwarf cox apple is holding fruit if another odd shaped tree as, like the others, didnt want to prune enough.
Cherry looking sad.
There's more stories to my 120hrs gardening but time for tea

Petunias! That was it, thanks Dusty. I knew they were only something common cos that seems to be my wheelhouse ha haa.
Farway a good few years ago I got myself a box of dark choc brazils in Lidl in their christmas offerings. The choc had orange oil in itI wish I'd bought a dozen boxes cos I've never seen them again and they were delish
Are you allowed to change your answer..?
Gawd what's your garden gonna be like when the heat comes this weekend 2p as it's still in full flowSounds like you've got some proper gardening done. Doesn't seem all that long ago you were waiting for everything to start...
I've been putting my my garden to bed (as instructed by posh friend) but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. It'll not have to matter cos I've only a bit more to do today and it's finishedWeather permitting like. The drunkards (who nailed it yesterday, again) say cool and breezy and cloudy 'til evening then a heavy rain band coming over and out to sea in maybe a couple of hours. Ventusky and bbc and sobers have given heavy/light rain on and off all day finishing about 2300. Mind those 3 say it's raining out there now and they're wrong. They do all agree on the heat coming sat and sun though, low 20's possibly. Cool this morning but not cold really. Cool enough to be sat here in fluffy bed socks mind.
