We're definitely "in the bleak midwinter" here, it was so cold overnight between the old and the new year that the floods froze. This was taken yesterday when I ventured out for some fresh air.
All the small birds have been much more visible particularly this morning so I'm planning to take some sunflower hearts to scatter when I walk round tomorrow.
PS hope the jab went well Catsacor and hooray for getting the call.
PPS sorry, forgot to say this is normally two meadows separated by a stream.4 -
Today we have thick snow c/w heavy snowfall. Rain is forecast for tomorrow. We are snuggly inside and enjoying ourselves! We have not ventured out because it's far too dangerous. Maybe next week . . . meantime I think I'll just have a small sherry. (For medicinal purposes, obvs). Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. If those supplying it and advising us have so little faith in the product, why should I rush to get it?However, if my in-laws are anything to go by, you'll be OK. MiL had two heads to start with though!M5 was running fine yesterday. Just needed a litre of screenwash to go up it and another litre to come back. Seems like it's rinse and repeat for the next week or so, but out in the garden this morning it felt not too bad.

Lovely picture GF, it reminded me of when I was a but a lad, when the fields used to flood and we'd venture out onto the ice [should add it was not a river flooding, just a dip in the ground], this usually finished up with welly boots full of freezing muddy water and a cold squeaky boots & frozen gloved hands walk home to zero sympathy from anyoneThis was sometimes avoided if the ice gave way under your mate first and escape off the ice a an option for youNormal etiquette was get the gullible young ones out there firstDry & dull out, no frost though. There was a slight promise of sun but that gave upEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4

Ha ha Farway times were tough then.. Red raw rashes on your legs where your wellies stopped and coming back to a house where only one room was heated. But we'd never had it so good, apparently.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget4

But we'd never had it so good, apparently. The bit I hated most was pushing the Hovis bike back up that hill!It was no fun being first to get chilblains, but we had a badly drained playground where incredibly long slides were possible.Well, I said yesterday wasn't too bad here and I got quite a lot done: more overhanging tree trunks removed by the stream, more logs chopped and some late hedge cutting where the tractor can't quite reach.Today I think the dozen+ plastic boxes full of Christmas tat go back in the loft......3

I got the Christmas tat back into the loft yesterday and the lights on the holly bush disconnected. Can't decide on the lights on the front of the house... They add a nice glow to the front, without having any brighter exterior lights on and I am tempted just to leave them up. The ones round the back porch have been left for a couple of years now and give the necessary light to find keys etc when arriving home in the dark. I worry, though, that we are at risk of ending up looking like a down-market pub...3
