  • Ha haa I like your wee man and his dog 2p, might have to ask Santa for one

I love a good thunderstorm, lots of crackling and flashes forking across the sky and rumbling and torrential rain. And the smell just before it arrives. And counting the seconds so you can hear tell how many miles away it is. They're one of my favourite things  I didn't know there's a map to track them though, I'll get a lot of use out of that

The drunkards cracked it here yesterday too. Bladdy scorchio and not a cloud or a breath or nothing. They must be on their monthly roll. Today they've given thick cloud - partly cloudy - baking - partly cloudy for the day, and winds up to 5mph. I'll take that. Just need this fog to lift, it's such a pea-souper out there I can't even see the bottom of my garden :o

Should get the patio finished today. It just all wants grouting something putting in between the slabs (resin something...?) then let it settle and it's done. Finally. I'll get a picture when the weather lifts. Then when it's cooler next week I can start using it :clapping:
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.
  • I’ve just realised. That’s a year gone since the Queen died. RIP. :disappointed:

    Already hot.
    Had a bath last night  :D   :D.   :D. !!!
    Coming to finish up today.
Lots going on here that's nothing to do with gardening but I'll try and fit some planting up, sanding down etc. Don't like to use all these machines when my neighbours door is open right beside. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

The man in the photo is one of many in my nearby town. A whole trail as lots of businesses have them. I'll try and get one to match Dustys......and yes, made by a disabled man to raise money for a mental health charity from scrap so very mse.
Bathroom man may be late... forgot to tell him as well as holiday change over there'll be jeeps, 1940s lorries etc on the road  :o
I'll put some coffee and bics ready to placate.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Thanks for lightning link, another one who loves watching it, nearest to me is in the Bay of Biscay and Portugal B) . I think it will be a quiet day here, sun's out, and it's warming up

Watering already completed this morning, all the pots at the front. My cannas from seed are cracking on and looking very tropical, but no flowers yet :'(
Plus, I have self sown Castor Oil [ricinus]  popped up :) , obviously from one of last year's seed pods
I’ve just realised. That’s a year gone since the Queen died. RIP. :disappointed:
RIP indeed, it also the anniversary of my gout return :( , her death sticks in my mind because I was stuck upstairs just able to hobble to the loo

Hope bathroom goes to plan, tea & biccies always helps.
We get the ww2 traffic for D-Day here, the HQ village, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx7KHtzVrDw is not far away, and the enactors have a big encampment nearby. Morrison's car park gets full of jeeps &"G.I"s, if lucky & weather, sometimes get invasion striped aircraft flying over on their way to the Normandy commemorations,
Showing my age, I pointed out to some youngsters a group of striped Dakotas going over, they looked at me like I had gone mad and returned to much more interesting phones

Would your pears ripen if you sat them with a ripe banana?

They ripened, after a fashion. Tried them yesterday, one was cotton wool texture, but OK, other two were OK flavour & juicy but nothing special to rave over. I suspect it is another item grown to look good with an indifferent favour. I put them in with the bird pecked stewed apples
Wrongly labelled, so I can't warn you of one to avoid

The two dahlia flowers I pollinated have lost their petals, and now I need to watch out I do not dead head "my ones". It seemed a cunning plan, but I've no idea where I will grow them on yet, a problem for next year

We only have tractor rallies here, perhaps because the military stuff mostly happened somewhere else. As a lad, I remember a little ethnic diversity and some dangerous goings-on at one of the beaches used for training.  I also recall finding a bomb under a bridge at some remote spot on the moor, but I'm not saying what happened to that. >:) The fact I'm typing this now means it was a training device! Apparently, there was also a 'big fight' between locals and the GIs in the town square, but I expect any references to that have been quietly erased, if they were ever reported in the first place. You certainly can't Duck it. ;)
Cloudyish and warm again here. I have a load of watering to do, so I'll leave you with the first of several 'berry' pictures. Big hawthorn.:)

It looked more impressive in reality! Yep, need a new gate. :/

That’s a !!!!!! about your pears Farway, and they looked so tasty too :( Well at least they’re feeding someone eh.

Funny saying about the anniversary, that’s a year that we’ve had the telly. It’s a super-dooper all singing all dancing something or other that does everything but make the dinner, but it won’t work without a phone line 🙄 And as we moved to White Telephone Box land we were weeks waiting on them coming out to connect us (they truly don’t care!) this was the day we got our new box and all connected. Himself rushed to check it all worked, and I said “well don’t bother putting it on for me for there’s never anything on….”

Hooray for your bath 2p 👏🏻🥳 It really is the little things eh? Hopefully your tea and biscuits will smooth the way to a quick finish 😃

There’s not a lot of military stuff round here, well a bit of army but nothing major. I had more in Lincs, there was forever someone up there flying about or practising or scrambling, I loved it. I could stand a bit more of it for sure.

The patio is finished! All done and “going off” as we speak! It looks 100 times better already, I can’t wait to get some furniture out there. I’m all giggidy  :D Apart from the fact it’s shown up a couple of problems we weren’t aware of, so it’s one step forward…

  • Oh and the drunkards are spot on again, and they’ve put out a weather warning for thunderstorms. Woohoo!

    Gorgeous Bluey!
I like the sleepers round the edge.
Besides, stops you falling off when you've had a couple of glasses of celebratory wines  :)

I'm sure you could knock a new gate up, Dusty ;)

I love the new patio, YBE - I bet the pattern took some working out.

Weatherwise... urgh, too hot. It's been in the high 20s inside at work all week, hitting 30.1 on Thursday :( I seem to remember there's no maximum temperature where you're allowed to down tools, but there is a minimum temperature you can, not that my employer took any notice of that during the last freeze...
