I love this, presumably dead, weed or plant - it reminds me of the sparklers you get on Bonfire Night 😁
Can anyone identify it?? It was just growing wild at the side of a path.
Scorchio this afternoon 🥵 I’m looking forward to seeing the beautiful sunset tonight though - there’s bound to be one 🌅'A watched potato will never chit'...3 -
I think that's what we used to call cow parsley pp, don't be taking any home cos the stalks are hollow and full of earwings!
I've never thought of them looking like sparklers before but don't they just
2p are the little pale leaves in your picture young'uns of the bigger darker ones? I like the shape of them, very clover-yMy aquilegia seeds didn't come to anything, unless they're taking a very long time thinking about it... Good job I've kept plenty back 'just in case'.
I've didn't get a walk this morning, I'd have got soaked cos it's full on foggy out there. I've normally got the windows and doors open for the cool by now but I don't want the damp in. They all say it's gonna be even scorchio-er than yesterday, the colour changing temperature map on Ventusky would make you think I was living in the SaharaStill no sunrises or sunsets of note, but there were plenty of pics of them on the local weather last night, some really beautiful ones too. We might break the record for highest temp of the year being in September said the forecaster on R4 this morning. So that's nice.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Looks like a 'Tarka' day here. i.e. a little 'otter than yesterday!Managed to get plenty of shade for yesterday's walk, so although the car was telling us 27c, it felt tolerable. No wonderful photos, though. I had a Speckled Wood in my sights at one point, but camera had given autofocus the afternoon off.Cleaning out the hen house today, ready for winter, so I must be off, sharpish, before the heat. Here's someone else who enjoys a walk....and a dig!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity4

It's a warm start here - says 80% humidity... phew. Still having porridge for breakfast though with foraged brambles and stewed apple.
I left the earwig ridden 'sparklers' where they were, YBE

Only 80%? It's drying out here but I'm still at 90%
So that's a ferret is it? I did just DuckDuck "polecat ferret differences" but it looks like a right wormhole and we're grafting again shortly. Doubt I'll be out there long, like.
Update on my mono-petal - it smells a bit nutmeg/cinnamony, but only a bitI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
It is a Ferret, though a 'polecat' variety. Ferrets get a bad press. If they're 'brung up proper' they don't usually bite, and they're always either asleep or up for a game. They travel well compared with most dogs and cats. That one's going on holiday soon, and a little bird tells me it'll be doing part of the NC 500.OT: 21c here at 09.00 and a humid misty start. Ooh the NC500 -tell it to take lots of pictures!
I'm chai-wallah today, which is good cos there's not a breath of air out there.
(Not wallah, but I don't know what the female of that is).I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1 -
Another scorcher here, I'm going to have to water the pots this afternoon, been too hot not toPP, your "sparklers, agreed on Cow parsley, but there are others with non earwig properties. We have Fennel in the volunteer border, does double duties, seeds are, gulp, fennel for cooking
, Foliage smells of, you've guessed it, fennel, everything flying insect loves the flowers, and come winter it's fireworks, with frosty bits
It does get some tiny black beetles in spring, but they vanishGrows about head high, another self seeded if it likes it, our one has cousins now in the bungalows next door and in cracks in car parkPicture below,AUG 2020. Fennel is the stuff at front and leaning to left. Mainly yellow flowers head, not the sunflowerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4
