Lovely photo, twopenny. They look like little blue fairies flying around.

Inula hookeri - is there a more common name?? They did look good en masse - mine were at the garden we visited a few weeks ago (Crarae).

The grauniad and wiki both say you can flip it around to Hooker's Inula (named after the person who introduced it to the uk rather than ladies with many admirers)

I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.
  • That's a cracking pic 2p, I'd have that as my screensaver or summat  Beautiful little stream too, just right for paddling about in! What will you (possibly) replace your lily with? And I keep meaning to ask - did you find a something to remember your neighbour?

Good news about your car Farway, must be a relief eh? And what I wouldn't give for fresh Shasta shoots. Or a big clump of pp's yellows  *sigh*
Is this a gardener's life is it? Lots of sighing and 'ah well, next year'?

I got a better photo of the new plants yesterday, I'll put it up in a min. Jeez it was warm here, there's still some strength in that sun even if it is September. And hardly a breath of air. Not grafting weather at all really but still.

I wonder what's gong on with the blackies, if you're without yours too pp? I've never noticed them be 'seasonal' before...? Maybe the tits are taking over cos I have coal and blue tits here too. Also a robin, and a good lot of sparrows.

Speaking of photographers - does anyone else remember the guy who was up in Afghanistan or the Khyber Pass or somewhere, and he was a few years trying to get film of the snow leopards..? Thank god these people are so patient :)

OT - it was cool this morning when I got up, but didn't drop to single figures last night I don't think. Bit dampy and dewy out there though. It may/may not be cloudy and/or sunny, with/without a small/brisk breeze. They all agree on the temps though - up into the 20's. We're taking mil out today so as long as the cloud doesn't break it should be bearable.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.
  • Sunny jades :) I’ve given the extra bit a firm tug and it really isn’t for coming out so it can stop there.

  • Ooh isn't that attractive? And such a cheerful colour too :) I'll have to keep my eye out for a sticky bit of pyracantha. I see them round here, they've either orangey or yellow berries... mil's home might provide actually

Lovely stream picture 2p. o:) I might have a photo of something from a stream later in the week, and also my Water-Forget-me-Nots. They've taken about 2 months from seed to flower! :o Dare I release them into the wild? :/
If Farway is putting up a seed raised dahlia, so will I. :p Had terrible germination, but this is one of three raised this year from collected seed:
Err....hang on, it's not there! :o ....I thought it was in my folder of MSE pictures, but no. How embarrassing!  :'(  Oh, look, a butterfly! Um, some winkles, actually. I wasn't going to mention foraging just yet, but here they are and jolly tasty too. Anyone else remember when you could buy winkles at the fishmongers? These were free from Combe Martin beach. :)
