Early ripening cherry toms!
I'm on the lookout now. Might be my answer to the changing weather.
I've watered and fed. Not the joy I expected because there was a chain saw and scaffolding going up on both sides. Men and their machines grrrrrrrrr!
Of for a walk through the blooming heather to the highest point on exmoor. Never been on the path before so will be interesting.
May see you again.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

For now, I was thinking more like this: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/254227/oven-roasted-stuffed-squash-blossoms/
I've had them stuffed and fried before, but fancy trying baked (not worth heating a pan of oil just for me).I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.3 -

And now I have a cunning plan for some of my Merton Thornless and Christmas"Blackberry vinegar, is a sweet and sour, thick-ish vinegar that works especially well with fruit, sweet root vegetables...."Looks easy peasy, soak, boil, bottle

) There were a few big showers around. We dodged all but one.
Returning home on the A303 it was much the same story, but as soon as we crossed into Devon it was sunshine all the way.
Here's it looking somewhat threatening around Yeovilton: (and a big mushroom rather like the one PP posted last week!)
. We lived in Devon for 14 years and have lived for 5 years very close to Yeovilton. We went to Portland in Dorset today, it was glorious, blue sky and sunshine all the way. It’s going to be nice tomorrow then back to rain on Friday. Typical …

Don't forget blackberry brandy.
I've made a lot of sloe gin but always wanted to try blackberry brandy.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I was on a blackberry recce today and was disappointed to find very few on the bushes that were absolutely laden last year (albeit later in the year for me actually picking them). I can see some fruit (green and red with the occasional black) but the numbers are definitely down
I don't think they've already been picked because it's still too early here.
I was gifted some homegrown cherry toms the other day - I think the neighbour must have had a glut - it certainly put my single plant offerings to shameI've used one to make a 'tomato skidmark' on a piece of kitchen roll so will try and get them to grow next year. Sorry, that sounds a bit dodgy but I wasn't sure how else to describe it...

Arb that recipe looks really tasty, are you going to try it? And I know it's only early but bramble brandy sounds like a winner too
I'm sure I've a book somewhere with a whole section on vinegars - fruity, spicy, all sorts. Your thick bramble vinegar would be lovely over rasps and strawbs Farway....
Maybe your recce'd bushes are "having a rest" (as my granny used to say) from going mad last year pp. Whatcha gonna do with your toms? Will glutty neighbour give you some more so you can try cherry tom vinegar... ?
You gonna get all your gardening done today then Murphybear ready for the rain? (I nearly shortened your name to Murphy but I'm not sure you're a fellah...)
Someone's got their finger stuck on the repeat button for the mornings here. Cool, damp, very slight breeze, heat coming. It reckon's it's 14' but it feels warmer than that. Mind I can keep my back door open all day now (rather than just first thing) cos the Holey Roamin' Terror is being kept in while lovely neighbour puts cream on his itchy bites. Evidently the cream is very tasty so she's also got him a collar. He is Not Amused.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

Aw, I LOVE that pic - he looks like he's got a pretty little bow as well so I'm not surprised he's grumpy haha.
The gifted toms went wrinkly after a couple of days (they were very ripe) so I'm going to stick them in the oven with some garlic and make a pasta sauce
My tom plant has been banished outside this morning, along with the peppers that I didn't re-pot. I should have listened to Dusty because my one pepper fruit was turning black. I might still re-pot the others because they're all healthy looking with flowers, but there again... I'm hoping the gnats have vacated the building as well - I've already hoovered and will damp dust and hoover again later.

I'll was 'never' growing the huge toms again, but now they've responded to a bit more love and feed, I'm conflicted.
We have potential pasta sauce in quantity here now for Friday, when the weather's supposed to break. I usually walk on a Friday, but I'm so behind here, a breather from that was coming anyway. The duff weather won't spoil the Plymouth Fireworks Championships, which end tonight.
The youngsters are going, despite the potential exacerbation of global boiling. Apparently, if you repeat "All hail Bill" and jingle your bitcoins while circling Smeaton's Tower 3 times, you're in the clear.Council meeting went as well as could be expected last night. The opposition lied, but were advised their legal nonsense was outwith planning considerations. Their presentation of a document signed by our predecessors in 2002, which expired in or around 2007, also brought some puzzled looks!Apparently, the big council have indicated they're minded to approve our plans, but I won't believe it till I have it first hand. The little Council were divided, more or less as expected, so they went neutral, which is fine. If I didn't know as much as I do about the situation, I'd do the same.
Patrolling MiL's garden on Tuesday, looking for snippets, I came across this butterfly I'd not seen before. I know Arb likes a challenge, but sadly, I labelled the photo without thinking. Not the best, but had to be a 'grab.'
