Ah I was thinking of you when I wrote that Farway ha haa!Not sunny or hot here but it’s stopped raining so here’s a couple of pics. I don’t remember buying them or planting them but I must have, cos they’re on the side that had all the tree roots in… They haven’t opened all the way up so I just took pics of the good bitsI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.9

I don’t remember mentioning them… I was that surprised when they came up! But yeah aren’t they pretty
Just been on the news that it’s exactly a year ago since the record high temps were recorded. A year ago!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Do these count? Although they are only cherry ones, not full grown ones. And they are in the greenhouse so probably doesn't count...YBL, the same thing happened ot my aunti during covid. Because she was in a unit and she couldn't see my cousin, she stopped eating and drinking, short of force feeding and intravenous liquids [ which she probably would have pulled out of her arm] there wasn't much they could do, because she just wasn't interested. I've tried enticing someone who doesn't want to eat and drink to eat and drink and no matter how hard you try, it just doesn't work sometimes. Which is not to say they shouldn't have tried harder. Or at least informed you if there was a problem. And I could rant about falsified records all day too so I do know what it's like, feeling powerless and angry and stil being unable to sort anything because of the staff turnover and starting right from the beginning again every single time.YBL, beautiful pics, the top ones colours are gorgeous..Farway, love a bit of hedgerow jam..I might even get to make some blackberry and apple maybe this year..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

Aw, nice little toms, Taff, and of course they count if grown by your own fair hand! I have Red Alert outside, plenty of GREEN toms, supposed to be very small, but some of them just keep on growing - enough of swelling, just go red, will you! I've got Big Boy in plastic shelters, doing ok, strange lack of side shoots this time though. Is it just me, or are tomatoes from the supermarkets even more tasteless than usual, and have very hard skins?
Last year a mystery mini tom grew in the garden, prolific and tasty. Now they're all over the place. If I'd known they would come back I might not have sown the Red Alert. Lots of cucumbers now, will probably make relish again later on.
Stunning lilies Farway are they orientals? Love the colour, it's quite unusual, isn't it? Superb photography 👍 I'm posting a couple of pictures of my lilies which have been sheltered behind the house. I carried them to the back garden yesterday and tied them to a garden arch. Everything gets blown over sooner or later here. I have others (white) out in the soil, still a bit behind this year.
My Autumn Bliss (not Blush as I erroneously stated before) arrived yesterday, two 5 footers, came in good shape, leaves and some growing tips looking fresh. A bargain for the price I paid. Now being supported by a metal framed bed my son gave me, quite modern, IKEA or similar. I've found it fantastic, once dismantled, as plant supports. It's fun and economical to repurpose stuff, and me having spent many years practicing the baler twine economy (there's not much can't be fixed with old baler twine) I like to keep my hand in!
Blue your glads are beautiful, just gorgeous colours.
So sorry about your MIL, what some old people go through in their final years is absolutely unacceptable, it's what makes it a relief when they actually die, but it shouldn't be that way. I went through it with my mother, in and out of hospital, terrified in one care home (suspected brutality by a member of staff). I was very fortunate to find a much better place for her last few months.
Re rose hips; Rosa Rugosa has HUGE HIPS, and lots of 'em. Pity about the thorns. Wonderful scent, though. Natch I went OTT, being an expert at making rods for my own back, and put them everywhere. They sucker a lot, too 😕. I wonder if anyone here has planted things that with hindsight you wish you hadn't?
I could write a book; Big Gardening Blunders I Wish I Never Made.
Dusty, that's one diverse and vibrant display. One must appreciate the enormous effort that went into it. For me, it's all too much, too complicated. Love tulips, but not like that.
God willing I'll be cutting the grass tomorrow, third time this year! My lawnmower has never had such an easy time.

I don't know what's worse. The fact that she's going through it and they caused it don't care, or the fact that it seems to be a common thing and no-one gets anything done. She eats and drinks fine with us (I hadn't actually considered folks that you just can't tempt) so in my mind it's negligence by the staff. Interesting. But god help them if they're falsifying records. When she passes I might make this whole thing my mission. Anyway.
I'm more envious of your wee toms now taff, they look like I want mine to look. I'm with Gorse, I've plenty of fruits at various stages but they're getting kinda big now. More redness and less bigness pleaseMine ones are just sat outside though and it hasn't been overly warm overnight this last wee while. It's meant to be sunny and/or cloudy for all and/or part of the day. Bit of wind and maybe up to 20' this aft. Do I remember something from a wee while ago about the drunkards getting a new computer/radar/satellite/tea-leaf reader that cost squillions of £££? Seems to have been money well spent
Fingers crossed for your Boysenberry Farway. Sounds like you got a good healthy chunk of a thing. Can't wait to hear what it tastes like
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
I'll be eating toms 2, 3 and 4 later
I never thought to save any seeds, YBE, good thinking. I took a pic of the plant (grown inside the house - not sure I'll do that again because of the fungus gnats!!) yesterday so I'll post that later. I gave it a severe haircut beforehand, YBE style, so it looks quite puny.
Beautiful photos, as always. Love the gladies and lilies
It's looking a bit misty out there this morning after a couple of nice sunny days.'A watched potato will never chit'...2 -
Aye they do look kinda puny when you've just done it but they soon come back. I'll go take a pic of mine for reassurance. I've actually snipped off new shoots a couple of times since and they're fine, other than the toms being too big and greenI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1

I wrote a long post last night and lost the lot, but it went something like:Yay! PP has a really luscious-looking and very RED tomato, while mine are still mostly green and suffering blossom end rot.
Twice a day watering from now on.
Yay! again, as Blue has cracked it with the photos of her gladioli. "Just shoot the best bits" Absolutely, that's what we all do! Home page next. I reckon.Of course your tomatoes count, taff. Anything you can eat and enjoy counts.Even my tomatoes count, because although we aren't eating them, the hens are!
Great lilies from Gorsebush. We don't grow them because we have cats, but maybe we should have tall ones, like those.
I agree about the tulips too. Don't grow them either. We do have Rosa rugosa, but only at the treeless part of the roadside field hedge where we give a neighbour the view. They get something to look at and we stop anyone climbing over!
Whew! Caught up...if I don't mention hospitals and care homes, so I won't."Everything's just f.....ine!"4
