Gazebo added and 8-person tent now in progress....Ferrets and chickens, big NO! Chickens freak out on sight. Ferrets go on leads anyway. Cats not bovvered unduly, unless their personal space is invaded.Well done on the tomato PP, my first had blossom end rot! That's breakfast done, bye for now."Everything's just f.....ine!"3

Never thought of a ferret as cute but that one is. Brilliant photo!
I guess we have a lot of photos to choose from on here :-) not to mention good photographers.
Started lovely and sunny when I wanted a lie in. Now I'm up and it's wind and threatening rain. The forcasts are widly varied but looks like the met are front runners for the moment. Do you think they do it on purpose and wager bets on the outcome?
Did the boil wash get dry?
Yes, some boards are tough, they know what's right and you're not :-)
Was planning a relaxing day of housework and beautification after a wildly unpleasant week. Surprising how your view of the mundane can change.
May get out to do some feeding, may not. Who knows.
I've got tomatoes but no sgn of colour yet :-/
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Wow, turned my back and lots of posts to catch up on.First up Dusty, hope the day goes well, around here lots of events have been pulled or amended because of the wind forecasts. Bet the ferret will be a big attraction as wellPP, hooray for ripe tom, I have some way to go yet, but I do have a runner bean, and wayward tips that I can't reach to get under controlDusty, bit OT but worlds collide, were it not for Broadwindsor I would not be here, way back a Devon ancestor lodged there in the 1850s and then married a nice young Flax worker in the church. Quite an impressive & imposing church I thoughttwopenny said:So been out and tied up the runner tendrils that were on a space mission. Looks like I may have beans.Pruned the wispy plum growth. It needs a bit of a thin out at the ends of the branches. I'd swear it isn't a dwarf. The Bramley just keeps going up and not out despite pruning but it's producing fruit so like the plum I think I'll just cope with it as it is and be grateful. The cherry has got another dead branch. I'm not sure these pixie rootstocks are worth it. The small apple had endless probs. The darling birds have stripped my ripe raspberries. Can't net because of the wind. I'm going to have to make a cage I'm thinking. So another building project I don't have time for.Mine stayed in shape, but there is no fruit for me this year, cold & wet spring did for the bees & blossomFor my berries, I'm going to get some fleece, first trial will be the blackberries this yearRain has stopped, but very windy. If it improves a bit, I hope to finish off the apple pruning, take pic of my bean and urge on the posh lilies at the frontEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

My boiled towels..? Aye they did. Agree we have the good photographers on here. Which is right, considering it's a collection of gardeners on a gardening thread. I'll have a flick through my phone see if I can put up some OT ones...
I think they do do it on purpose. I think they take turns in going to the extremes so they're both right and wrong some of the time so no-one can write either of them off entirely. So it's the sobers' turn to be right today and they've given wind and cloudy. Which it is, so my washing's out. As a test - who gave rain for you today 2p?
Mundane can be good, especially when you haven't had a lot of it in one go!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Some actual OT pics! I’ve got more of these than I realised, I’ll need a cull before my phone fills up with them.Clouds and pretty skies. The snowy one is the house on the shore road me and my cousin would fight over if it ever came up for sale!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6

I don’t know how to edit the order of pics… but the 2nd one and the last one were taken about 20 mins apart the other night. It was mesmerising to watch 😊I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4

Drizzle here again today, the type with confusing blue skies and fluffy clouds to trick you into thinking it's good wash weather. But I have accepted being slightly damp to plant out the MoJo (dwarf mulberry) I mentioned my mum picked up for me before my trip.
I understand from reading around that the berries won't be as nice as 'real' black mulberries, but given I don't have space for a 'real' 30ft tall tree and I don't think I've ever actually tasted a black mulberry to know the difference, I'm charmed by this delightful little thing.
It's only about a foot tall right now, making a sporting effort to produce fruits, and should grow to ~ 6 foot in the fulness of time, which is quite manageable for me.
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.7 -
It's gone from lovely blue skies to violent gusts whacking the rain at the windows and grey.
So that was the drunkards......which means thunderstorms for the following all day.
Mundane not going well. A quick wizz round to put things in piles and coffee brewing, kitkat and a book about sunshine and wine. Ah well, housework will still be there.
Briefly got out to swap some pots soaking in rainwater tub.
Farway thats going to take some serious thinking and pruning. The tree has splitting bark and oozing sap but despite that it's thriving and fruiting. The spindly new growth is full of aphids each year. Keeps the little beggars of the main tree I guess.
Will take a good hard look when it's not blowing/raining/heatwave and post some grim photos.
Abs, the plum is a Dunster plum. The best and juciest I've ever tasted.
I haven't heard of the one you mention. Must look it up.
So that's what a mulberry looks like....beautifully weird

Lovely little mulberry tree, and with fruit, too. I once came across a very old, and big, specimen in a park. The fruit was ever so squashy and sticky, but tasty.
About the weather forecasters, is it the Sobers are the met office? Who are the drunkards?
Been outside tying up things, the wind's still trying to knock things over. Rain, including a thunderstorm. After the drought it's now Monsoon season.
Posting a pic of my hydrangea seemanii. When I bought it eight years ago I (afterwards) learnt that it takes seven years to flower! Last year seven years almost to the day I planted it, out popped two flowers. This year it has half a dozen flowers. Not exactly spectacular flowers at that. Was it worth the wait? I'm not sure.

That's a lovely bush Gorse, I like the dark glossy leaves
In another couple of years it might be covered in flowers
Your mulberry bush looks very appealing Arb. The berries might not be as nice as the black ones but maybe they'll be nice enough?
The weather people - Met office are the drunkards. They started as the Devonian Drunkards (cos the met office is in Devon), drunkards because they were just comically and consistently wrong. Then I started using the weather app that came with my phone (The Weather Channel from USA, I think), and they were quite often right so they're the Sobers. But the whole gig is a bit hit and miss.
The weather here yesterday was proper autumnal storms, I loved it! It properly persisted it down, then hail and thunder, then hot sunshine, then hail whilst it was sunshining, and windy the whole time. I was a bit concerned that my conservatory roof might come down but it's survived. If I knew how to put up a video I could share it!
Did you get your tree pruned Farway? I like the lollipop tree thing, I might give that a go.
I really like all the pictures being so big and clear. I'm not sure why mine have turned out little ?! But if there's a way to break something I'm there
I hope Dusty and party haven't blown away ha haa!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4
