Rain due here at 11.00, and then Armageddon, most appropriately around upgrade time. Will the upgrade include a return to the fearless days when nothing was 'off-topic?' Answers on the back of a bitcoin, please.Meanwhile, with nothing much happening here, another photo of the Persicaria at Rosemoor which I loved, this time in a context which shows its size. Note the Solomon's Seal in the foreground; nice that the RHS have sawfly too!

Going to the big show today, not massively planty, more farming. Seem to have beaten the queuing which will be horrid later. Must find brekkie.
Hope to say hi to a few big beasts and talk to folk about all things fruity. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing5 -
Jeez that's a big lump of a thing eh Dusty. I reckon that's what you call backbone!
That was a bit cryptic (for me) RAS, where you off today?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
Welcome Gorsebush. Sorry I'm a bit slow in catching up sometimes! Thanks for the Connor Phillips tip YBE. I'll check it out. I used to listen to Geoff someone on Radio Devon, Dorset, Cornwall years ago. He played a selection of oldies. I wonder if anyone remembers his name and if he's still around? Gardener's Corner is the only BBC offering that I listen to these days
Back on topic, I keep meaning to mention that if you are interested in having a 'wardrobe' shed like mine OH covered the wide middle shelf with an offcut of vinyl flooring for me which makes a great work bench. Easy to sweep clean and mop up!
Lots of interesting pictures at the moment thank you all.
I've been watching a plant in my garden for months now. It's now about three foot tall with bergenia like leaves and has just produced sprays of eryngium type flowers. I seem to remember losing a sea holly a few years ago so maybe it's returned. Any ideas please? Isn't gardening interesting? The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Please and Thank You are the magic words;)5 -
I can't help at all with your plants Eeny but yes gardening is interesting!
Thanks for the wardrobe tip, I'll keep my eye out for oneI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -
I'd better say incase I get lost in the upgrade, we've had rain!
Proper rain that's made the soil wet. Lovely summer rain that just comes straight down, not blown sideways.
The grass is green and plants looking happy
Was hoping for a trip to padstow but got to sit and look at figures. A bathroom after 4 years of trying plumbers and taking a gamble on another car + getting the heating fixed. Totally overwhelming when they all come at once.
Why can't pensioners go on strike for massive pay rises?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Thought I'd get in quick before upgrade and welcome to GorsebushRain arrived here in the early hours, not much, but it's wet the ground, could be more later, the weather maps always seem to be a bit vague for this area, just "showers" or "changeable"That is some tree Dusty, nice to see it in scaleManaged to get most of the summer pruning of my fruit trees completed yesterday before my back started to really complain. At least 3/4 pruning completed nowOne other plus while pruning, spotted woolly aphids just starting out, most of the pruning has removed the blighters, and they will be on the way to council composter near youAlso removed fresh branches from my Judas tree, and found a crumbles worth of Merton thornless blackberries underneath. Now they are in the daylight, they'll be nice second crop for meI am pleased to announce the birth of my first baby runner bean
! Photo to follow if some storm doesn't arrive to knock it off
Here is my crispy gooseberry, it was lush & green just last week and now it looks very dead. The fruit is fine & ripe, just not yet picked. If I were more bendy I'd get down to examine the stem to see if any damage, but it's nor something I can do these days. All very odd because other nearby plants are fineBut as already said, if it pops off then I'm putting a boysenberry in there, well I will if I can persuade DS to dig out a dead goosegogEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3 -
Loving the big clump of Shasta daisies, my daises decided they don’t like each other so sit in solitary confinement! Dotted in the border, I wish they would get together, I must of got the wrong type.
windy here today and overcast just going to peg out, though knowing the forecast is for showers will no doubt have to run in and out.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4 -
twopenny said:Why can't pensioners go on strike for massive pay rises?Because we're not wage slaves any more?In the dilemma you present, I'd go for fixing heating first, then car, provided the bathroom was functional. I would never gamble with cars. There's plenty to research there, including knowing the history of what you're considering and the broad reputation of the particular model. Finding an honest dealer is harder. He's a bit out of your neck of the woods, but James of CG Motors near South Molton is who I'd use if I knew nothing about s/h cars. We got Mrs Dusty's automatic from him at a fair price that reflected the rough edges. The mechanics have proved sound enough, and he had some initial teething issues sorted for us quickly. This is his current/future stock list....a real pot-pourri:He also has a YouTube channel of probably only modest interest to those not 'into' cars in a big way:Sorry, can't help with eeny's plant, but I'd like one!!
Maybe a photo would assist my creaking brain cells?

Yes, I used to follow his ups & downs on YT, always struck me as nice open sort of bloke and one I could trust buying a car from if he were near meAsking about dealer recs on local FB pages can be useful, but not foolproof
