Yep ladybirds. I've a few different sorts, and I don't know the good ones from the bad ones.. I'm just leaving them all to it #Shawshank
Damage limitation here too eeny. I moved my tom pots and tucked them in up to the fence, but they only get the briefest wee bit of morning sun there. The wind is dropping through the week and they've given heat again for the weekend so fingers crossed they'll be alright.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

Is that an espaliered (sp?) something on the wall?
It's an espalier pear meeting the fig tree on the corner. Here's a picture of Mrs Dusty standing where I was when I took the photo. (In case anyone wonders why she looks a bit 'vague' I've anonymised her a little!)
I think the caption might be," Lovely garden, but maybe health and safety needs a second look!"Edit: Oh, and those granite troughs that form the pond cost a bomb, but as this is a working farm, the 3 or 4 about the place may have been on site a long time."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Off to get grass seed and battens; the latter to complete the polytunnel. Had to wait till the van was fixed for those, as I want 3.6m ones. Van's doing its final missions now, as the MoT runs out in October and I've been advised to sell it on to someone who can weld!

Wind dropped here as well, only casualty was my posh dahlia toppled over but survived & no harm done apart from a few bent leavesThat picture of steps Dusty, I can just imagine me toppling A over T down them these daysRain is on its way, due this evening once Dusty has finished with it. Sky is darkening alreadyIt did sprinkle lightly yesterday, but nothing to shout about. Before it rained I watered the pots of course, The outdoor toms were starting to wilt a bit, and now they are growing well I want to keep them going well. None colouring up yet, but some are getting paler & on the way. Not sure yet which will be first to ripen, if I took a bet it would be on F1 yellow plum, LimoncitoPicked most of the gooseberries yesterday, 630g which makes a lot of Fool. I may freeze some now I've stewed them because there does seem a tummy ache in the making if I scoff the lotMy Peace rose has flowered, just the one flower, but at least it is correct label. Pic belowAnd I had some unexpected raspberries from a runner surviving from a few years back when I grew rasps. Here are the raspberries, massive crop this yearAnd Peace roseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

Freezing cold here with a bit of rain but not enough to dampen the rain shadows.
The garden will have to be on hold as dentist, window seal woman, hair dresser, gas, electric, heating guy, bathroom guy all need attention. Can't get anyone for 3yrs now all in the same week
My car needs a weld and going in to see if it's worth doing too because I can't afford/won't afford the crazy prices being asked for second hand cars now.
So the garden and dead heading will be my sanity among this lot.
Maybe a trip for coffe and cake to the garden centres for some time out. I don't need anything but there's no harm in looking is there?
Loving the photos and ideas.
I reckon I've got enough stone in the garden to build one of those

Urgh, fungus gnats... lovely 🤢 I think that’s what they must be. Absolutely disgusting because Tom is crawling with them... I’ve only ever watered from the roots so the top is actually bone dry and tbh I thought that was the problem. Oh well, you live and learn... all the more reason to get a greenhouse 😉 I’ve decided where one could go now, so just have to convince DH...
Light showers forecast here today after the heavy rain yesterday. So far it’s been sunny and breezy and I’m kicking myself for not hanging the washing outside 🙄'A watched potato will never chit'...2 -
Get a quick wash on now poppy, there’s ages of daylight left!I wouldn’t be looking to buy one of those troughs now Dusty. We’ve seen a few proper ones in repo yards (I’m looking for good doors) and the money they want for them
Laughing-at-you prices.
We were in a garden centre the other day. Originally just for a wee, then spotted the cafè, then a look round, and I ended up buying a diddy wee plant that I can’t remember what it’s called but it’s leaves are heart shaped and form down a string. Anyway there was a grey Fergie in the middle of it with a sign on it warning people not to touch the tractor at all never mind sit your children on it. When I learnt to drive a tractor (same one as the fergie but pale blue) my uncle shifted I don’t how many troughs round the yard so I could crash my way about the place without damaging any wallsI dread to think what that wee fergie and a load of troughs would cost you now. If only you could go back eh.
Second hand car prices are crazy. I was looking at getting another one of my one cos the MOT’s getting dearer every year, and I couldn’t believe what I’d need to spend just to end up with a marginally better one! This has ended up me whining about prices so I may as well go for the hat trick. The price of sheds and greenhouses! Was at a gc mind but still. A good size greenhouse and a decent wooden shed were the thick end of £7k *whimper* Santa won’t stretch to that
OT umm the sun’s out. Bit of heat in it too.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
@YBL this is why you need FB market place. You see 6 or 8 footers going for nothing, they just want someone to come and take it away, or for fifty quid or something thereabouts. Glass is pretty cheap too and older garden centers have it ready cut, the good ones, sadly no cafes though.Dusty, I used to have a transit, originally my fathers, it was something of an heirloom by the time I got it but after 3 years of non stop welding I had to give it up. It was 23 years old by that point though,. I loved it, it was like driving a boat.2p, there's never any harm in looking and you never know, something from the for sale shelf might need rescuing and provide a focal point in the future...that's my thinking...I may have made a gardening friend today. Picked up a bamboo in a bin which will be a pain to remove and slice up for free though, bargain! so we're having coffee on friday to sound each other out.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi4

Oh great to have a gardening friend. Mine passed away a couple of months ago. I miss the chat dreadfully. Bluey seems to have struck lucky.
So hard to find.
Look forward to developments.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I miss my DSis for plant chat and garden centre visits, my DH is just not interested.
Someone was selling a second hand Rhino greenhouse for £1500 original price for new was £3k. Sold straightaway 😳 out of my price range, unfortunately.
My washing was already on the drier being ‘dried’ by the dehumidifier by the time I realised, YBE. I’m still annoyed about it now 😂
Lovely sunny evening here 😎'A watched potato will never chit'...2
