Lovely and cool and cloudy here now, not warming up too much today either, they say. You southerners have sunshine and heat coming, said him on CountryFile. Cool, cloudy and breezy up this side. Long may it last!
Yes, small coppers aren't prolific, but we usually see a few... and commas. I put a number of Alder Buckthorns in our mini wood for the butterflies/insects and the WI distributed 50 around the village, which was a good move, if they were all planted. A few of mine have died in the past year or two, though.
No obvious reason. I've also lost 3 or 4 buddleias due to their old age, so that's something else I'll be replacing this year. It won't be at the moment; I've a stack of plants waiting to go in, but the ground has dried-out too much.Similarly, when I visited my friend in a warm coastal location yesterday, we couldn't plant into her 'concrete' clay soil. She has a water barrel, so can use that, but it's not going to last. We visited 'windy corner' at Lidl, as they've substantial alstroemerias at £9.99 just in and still healthy
, but the Acers we were discussing earlier were by then wind-burned.
The info RAS supplied earlier about small, decorative Malus is going to come in handy, as I've finally persuaded friend to plant one tree, "so long as it doesn't get too big."
Hedgerow floral display collected within 50m of the house. Oh dear, one drooper! Nothing rare.

Amazing innit, I love it! It's not a dunny sadly, she keeps all her shed stuff in there. All the original shelves and hooks and organisings are still in there. It's a beautiful thing. And I can't tell you the smell when she opens the door.... it smells like happy grandadsDustyevsky said:

That was daughter, not me.YoungBlueEyes said:That's a pretty arrangement Dusty, and I like that vase too
I have no flower arranging skills. I've a somewhat 'different' rural picture coming along soon that I shot yesterday, but 'tis on the other 'puter for tweaking at present. Been trying to get it for years and the subject's deteriorated somewhat over that time, but it's near a dangerous stretch of road. I needed a sunny, Sunday Bank Holiday to park up and walk there in relative safety.

Reminds me of some of the battered old Fergies all along the NE coast. Some may help launch or retrieve a boat every so often, other have no tyres. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing4

Thanks all for the butterfly ID - it was a first for me and very cute.
I like that pic too, Dusty - it’s certainly a big hulk of a machine. The flowers and vase are lovely too.
I’ll be doing more soil shifting today and it’s forecast to be a hot one 🥵 I can’t go out there just now because it’s all midgefied.
A pic I took yesterday. All the other bluebells are going over, but this was a latecomer...
