Ah that’s good news Farway, so she could be convalescing in the Spring/Summer sunshine 🙂 Fingers crossed his troublesome neighbours can be put back in their box…
Think you ought to shift any remaining pots for their own good, and then open a pot hospital 😀
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0 -
I too saw some nice looking square pots, made with a wood pattern.
I can't tell you what the price was because the shock wiped it from my mind.
I also looked at greengage trees but the one the right size and shape had blotches on the bark that I need to identify. Again eyewatering price so need to be sure. Photos later.
They have the baby cherry trees like mine. I got a good deal tescos £15 as these are 60!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It's still bloomin' cold and frozen solid here today, the weather when I took my previous photo made me think of Christina Rossetti's poem In The Bleak Midwinter especially the lines "earth was hard as iron, water like a stone."
@Farway - sorry to hear you've lost another pot to the frost. I agree that attractive new ones always seem to cost a horrendous amount but I don't have any ideas to suggest other than coughing up I'm afraid.
It was nice of you to pass on news from the Banished Devonian, I miss hearing from him on here and look forward to his return sometime soon. Please pass on my best wishes to him and his DB for the forthcoming operation as well.
In other news a friend and I spotted no fewer than 7 roe deer grazing in the open today and I took this photo before her dog spooked them.
"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Ooh 7 of them! That's a fab pic too goldfinches. Your last one had me half expecting Magwitch to come clanking outta the back hedges....I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1

Cold and dull up here but I was able to look into the hole that son in law had produced whilst digging out my troublesome shrub, which had taken no time at all to remove but which I had lost hours of my life I won’t get back.
Today I checked wether the soil was suitable to extend the hole making it big enough to fit my large pot bound Acer , the soil was suitable so after a while of hands and knees digging I had the task of trying to firstly lift the pot to the side of the hole then the grunt work of heaving it out of the very large pot, finally resorting to a hack saw to cut through the pot.
once in situ, I replanted some bulbs I had moved before SIL had started , added the smaller Acer a bit further over, and put some leaf mulch on and tidied it up.My back may take a while to recover but it’s so satisfying to have it sorted.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4 -
Wow once you get over it you're going to be so pleased!
Photo in the spring if you will. It sounds like it's going to look lovely.
No work of any sort today. Leg giving a lot of pain and bitterly cold though sunny. Did I rest and let it be? I did not. Will I ever learn?
Tomorrow is another day.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Thank you 2p ,I have a few Acers in pots as when I moved in here 20years ago I wasn’t sure how they would fare with the soil and weather in the fact that as a new build and high up we are quite open to the elements ,and I knew they like shelter, but now I know these things and have shelter there’s no soil left to plant in 😂
hope your leg is better, take it easy today. It’s misty drizzle here this morning.
Thanks to all those that post lovely pictures particularly at this dreary time of year, the highlight of my day today will be a lidl shop for loo roll!Hoping our banished Devonian will be back soon.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.1 -
I enjoy the pictures too but they make me feel guilty that I don't contribute so here is a photo of my kitchen window full of rescue plants, The most expensive was 50p (I'm hunting the slug which trailed across the streptocarpus on Sunday)
It's thawing fast here, there's a noticeable change outside. Misty, dull and damp. The fieldfares were enjoying the the apples I put out for them but not one this morning, the ground must be softer for them to forage.
All the best to everyone with health problems. We all need the better weather

Well it frosted last night again but the temperature's gone up, a brief rain shower this morning not forcast but it's overcast and not welcoming.Had a bright idea for covering my thyme plants and got out the cheap food nets that I'm not using now. With no wind when frosty they sit nicely over them and easy to put away and dry come morning so not causing the plants to get mildew.

Misty here as well, still cold but positively tropical compared to the last few daysGood work on the acer planting Wort, it'll be grand come spring with bulbs & fresh leavesAhh, IMW, you have reminded me, I have some of my Pinova apples going over [rotten] that I keep meaning to bung out for the birds, but it's been too frosty, for me, not the birdsAnyone else saw a clip on local ITV News last week? A drunken magpie that had been eating fermenting apples
, that'll be my birds once I get the apples out
My gardening today was going to be looking at the fresh growing hardy herbs and sorting out pots to move them into, ordered as part of my Asda online grocery shopping. However, my cunning plan has failed because all are out of stock. Luckily, I do have plenty of time for another bash next deliveryNice display of rescued plants IMW, amazing where slugs and pests can appear. My strepts are coming on but still have spotty leaves, which I'm sure is something sucking them, but I can't see or stop despite spraying. Talking of streptocarpus, just had a new Dibleys catalogue in the post, unopened but more temptation awaitingSaid he may make an appearance once if it gets easier in deepest Devon.
