Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Did a fairly long, brisk walk today and just managed to finish before the weather closed-in.
I was so invigorated, I fell asleep immediately on return home and woke up in the dark.....it was half-past four!
The countryside is losing its autumness now. I'll have to admit it's winter, but just look at the grass in the picture; I don't recall it being so green at this point in the year, and not just in the valleys.

I don't know if it is winter or spring as there are daffodils sprouting all around here!2

Morning folks, still dark out but definitely raining already, probably a washout today.
That sure is green grass D, love the pic especially the fallen tree on the right. Has it been milder for this time of year than normal? As ruthber says the bulbs seem confused with it all 🤔
Morning C, not heard from you in a while, hope you're well 👍
Just my opinion, no offence 🐈2 -
They said 'rain later' but it was raining properly by 8.30am here but I did manage to pop to the allotment for an hour just tidying and mucking about. I might plant some bulbs later, a job I hate!! Thanks landlord for the somewhat unwanted gift
But I mustn't complain as he did check the boathouse so that saves me another task I hate (don't think he noticed I didn't do it Sept/Oct as he seemed happy enough)
I do miss proper walks like in your photo Dave but I can't complain as I do have a good flat solid path each way from here without traffic. I don't count fly-tippers but they generally come in the dark. The council men come so often they stop for a cuppa!Love living in a village in the country side3 -
'morning, just light drizzle here, not that I was going anywhere, it's boiler service AM + grocery delivery PMSince yesterday's growing roses from seed thoughts I've spent some time on You Tube watching roses from seed videos, seems a million ways to do it, as most things gardeningThink I'll try the damp kitchen paper in a zip-lock bag in the 'fridge method, I've used the damp kitchen paper method to germinate peas and that worked fineI really only need a few plants just to try really because I'm not aiming to become a rose breeder, should weather be OK tomorrow I'll make my first hip heist during my walkNice pic DaveEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

It was a lovely day here yesterday, but having been led to believe otherwise, I booked it for shopping and only got the tail end of it.Everything in the polytunnel was looking healthy enough last night including the tomatoes and chillis. I guess it may be a different story this morning, with several degrees of frost. I haven't dared look yet!2

Sharp frost here too and a lovely sunny morning so I was up at the allotment at dawn. I picked the remaining tomatoes, 2lb green and 4lb red as I didn't dare risk them any longer. I have a very large, green aubergine which shows no sign of ripening - tempted to chuck it in with the green tomato chutney.
Picked kale, carrots and mint for dinner. Just thought, frost - hard ground - can't plant bulbsLove living in a village in the country side3 -
Frost free here, just dull with a few spits of rainHowever I did manage to go walking round the block and as I passed a rose bush laden with hips some dropped into an envelope in my pocketUpon further inspection some are really ripe & squishy so obviously at the point nature intended for the seeds to be spread aboutThis afternoon I will plop them in a jar of water to mush overnight & separate the seeds out tomorrowOn the way back i found another bush, smaller hips but minus the lethal thorns of the first target, may collect a few of them to compare results, and hopefully thorn freeHere's today's haulEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

You guys have all been busy! Started off misty and frosty here too but now the sun has burnt through and the sky is a beautiful blue (would take pic but camera is broken 🤬). I'll rely on you lovelies to post some pics instead. I plan to do some spuddling in the garden when I finish work. Nothing interesting just tidying up some borders probably.
Great news you got your hips F, impressive, will enjoy hearing about your journey with those. It's funny how things just seem to drop in your pockets lol 👌
Imw and D, jealous of your tomatoes etc. Enjoy 🐈Just my opinion, no offence 🐈2
