22c but hot and muggy. Seems some rain overnight but still a light dusting that hasn't touched the rain shadow or penetrated so a touch of chucking water this morning.
    I

I scattered bfb around too in the hope it gets watered in somehow and helps them recover. I've been adding phostrogen when I've had the energy. Now i smell despite wasging my hands!

The baby whitchhazel is blooming and has thrown up a good looking sucker with big red leaves. Wonder if it will stay that colour?

Bucketing down cats and dogs from 18'30!
Straight down and temp 20c so just lovely.

Checking the radar it won't last but it all helps.

Same here, but earlier. I was up a ladder taking the polytunnel frame down and wishing I could stop and have a rest.....and lo, my prayers were answered! :)

Yesterday's rain was more kittens & puppies in the end, very poor showing, and no "funder" either, so no dramatic photos, but there's hope for later today with radar showing loads off the Isle of Wight

If the rain doesn't arrive after lunch, I'll have to give in and water the large pots at the bottom of the garden with fruit trees in, can't let them die even though no fruit on them this year.
I may pick a few more apples while I'm down there now the first lot are stewed & frozen

I noticed that it rained steadily throughout the night here. Fortunately, the tired and stroppy 2 year old goes home today. ;)
With any luck, I might start transferring the polytunnel frame work over to its new home today, but that does rely on some physically able assistance, each hoop being 24' across and 50mm thick. If the foundations marry up correctly I'll be relieved. If not, I'll give the 2 year old a good run for his money!!! :D

Love the mix of imperial and metric Woolsery ... I think there's a generation that is defined by the fact that they mix the two indiscriminately and it's probably a much more accurate way of identifying a specific group that the generic cohort bandings.

We had steady rain with the odd downpour. I thought it wasn't particularly heavy but having been out this morning and looking at the road there's a fair amount of debris so there must have been a lot of surface water.

Yes, I can swing both ways, but in the case of polytunnels it's the manufacturers who mix both measures. The planners also stipulate that above 14' width is 'commercial.'
We actually spaced the new foundation tubes at 1.83m centres. o:) If only the digger guy had done the same with the holes! :D

Must have been some downpour last night because the bucket under the drip had overflowed!
Granted there's a large plant stuck in it but nother bucket under may go to my bin reservoir  :)

It's 20c and feels very cool after the heat. Fair chill breeze too.

Sorry it's missed you Farway. You need a break. Hopefully the IOW will share :-)

Bah, rain missed me again, out watering this morning, there has not even been enough over the last two days to top up the bird bath, enough to start the "mankiness" on the wizened and drought stricken blackberries though :s

It is a bit cooler today, at least I have picked more apples, I now have two carrier bags full and more if I fancy picking them, but I may leave them to fall for the birds over winter

My climbing beans are producing more as well, picked a very good handful this morning, so at least that's two crops so far.

Apart from more reluctant watering this afternoon, nothing else planned for the garden today

Hope the Covid doesn't linger on LL, a lot of it about now, my co conspirator on the volunteer border is down with it, so I'm flying solo for the moment

Thanks for your good wishes, Farway! Hope your co conspirator has recovered?

Unfortunately the covid did linger here ☹️ Almost three weeks on and we're still not back to full strength (and DH hasn't yet returned to work, although had planned to today but now his client has it 🙄). We've both been really ill with it and it's been as much as we could do for the first couple of weeks to crawl downstairs to let the pooches out....

As a result the garden has been left to its own devices and subsequently looks a bit of a mess, what with no mowing or weeding, little rain and many plants crisping up. DH did manage to do a bit of strimming this morning before the drizzle set in for the afternoon. Otherwise we've had very little of the wet stuff - ditto thunder, which rumbled distantly but never fulfilled its promise- and it's all looking rather autumnal, particularly the old apple tree and the roses which are shedding leaves like crazy.

I also lost my nine remaining apricots as we were just too ill to go out to harvest them - the birds got lucky there 😪

One bit of success - the three Eryngium Pandanifolium 'Physic Purple' purchased as plug plants at the start of the first lockdown are in bud for the first time 😁
