  • Farway I agree LLB would look great with coleus. I love them but they don't survive long in my garden. I think it must be the overnight temperatures, just checked my greenhouse thermometer and in August it went as low as 7.3 degrees  so obviously lower outside (and that is supposed to be a summer month)

I am ashamed reading Farway's post because my Ricinus haven't made it into the border yet and I doubt they'll survive winter in the poly. :|
OTOH, I was growing Bishop's Children dahlias before they were even a twinkle in the cleric's eye, and there's a long story behind that....but sadly no time to tell it now. I'm still growing them though. :)
Last year, I booked Rosemoor 3x before getting a monsoon-free day, but this year I've been lucky and now it's back to a free for all.....err, well, not exactly free. We'll be in there next for the great seed dispersal, I expect. ;)

Your link took me to a page offering free entry on 1st October 2019, have I missed something somewhere?

Yes, that's what happens with the free entry days. Surprisingly they often aren't crowded.
It's so little known about like the Heritage Days that occour in September. I often do these but they clash with out 1940s week end this year
Done nothing to the garden as I've been off enjoying the 1940s. Looks like tomorrow too. All I've done is visit the charity plants lady to offer some plants.
I did see some Gertrude Jekyll rose at the Watchet Railway station growing in another shrub. Great ideas as it's beautiful but leggy so something I intend to copy for mine and it was a problem.

Another day with no gardening other than looking and making no decision.
There's still fun and games here. And warm, dry, perfect for being out.
My arum lilly which has been flourishing has lost all its leaves, they went yellow and eventually rotted. I expected some, that's normal end of season but now there's a gaping hole.
I think there's a new leaf emerging from the base but not sure if it's just wishful thinking.
    Any ideas?
Had a month of eternal cold rain followed by a month of heat and dry.

Rain threatened here in the virtual world and reality, but I'm pleased  nothing happened. :) With a social event here next Friday, I was keen to get as much grass cut as possible, including a car park area in the field I've worked on for a week. Today, the hay that generated had to be cleared, so I was wielding a  rake for 90 minutes or more and pushing the collecting mower for the same amount of time. Only one area to go now. o:)
I was asked to rescue a field mouse from our woolly cat tonight, but by the time I arrived she'd been distracted by a fairly large hedgehog and lost the rodent. We saw a huge hedgehog last night, so they're definitely back with us again and I must try to get a photo. ;)
