Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I've planted seeds of Borage, Rudbeckias, mixed salad leaves, and out of date Aubergine this morning, mucked out the hens and done a quick tour of inspection. It's astonishingly cold out in the drizzle today. It takes a lot to bring me indoors, but here I am!🙁
Earlier, the fact we've been forgotten by our log supplier began annoying me, so I looked for an alternative. There's a small enterprise with 150 acres of woodland less than 10 miles away. A quick phone call, and we'll be re-stocked at 15.00. 😇 Throwing that lot into the barn will keep me warm!
I agree about Magpies not being desirable, though I've no idea how to dissuade them, short of a 12 bore. They pinch stuff too. Watch out for your plant labels! 😵
I also agree about not doing any more gardens from scratch. There isn't time now to grow more yew hedges or oak trees, and hard landscaping gets harder by the year.
Had a look at Combe Martin beach. There were more than 10 people visible, mostly dog walkers. Busier at Dawlish, but no sun down there either. 😐️

Morning all, search - Birdwatching. I hardly think we need telling about birds tbh. Reminds me of a line that I'd love to use as my sig but I'm not brave enough - me tits are Great but they're awful squeaky 🤭 There's no Preview button! I can't see if it'd let me have that 🙄I'll find out when I press post then * sigh *
Quick one this morning cos I've my normal Friday, but PoshFriend wants taking food shopping so I need to be on.
Bit of a whaaa'?! moment at work yesterday. A lady (84yo) rang asking about selling 1/3 of her house. No can do love, you can sell the whole thing or keep it entirely. Paraphrasing, this is the gist of it. Not that it happened and is made-y upp-y etc. So who will give me a loan for 1/3 of it then? Umm no-one, it's all or nothing. Right who'll give me a mortgage on 1/3 of it then? Well that would be up to the banks/lenders but I don't think you can, if the repayments weren't kept up how could they repossess a third of a house? Oh yeah I spose not… Could I put 1/3 in my son's name and then he can sell it? Same deal I'm afraid, no can do. Oh god, time's running out, where am I going to get the £50k from then?? You mentioned a son, could he help you out? No, he's the one needs the money. Ok could other family members help him out, that might be the only option? Well I do have 2 sons but no that's not an option. Could son do a repayment plan for the money perhaps? Not really no cos it's a drug debt. Ah, so he probably can't talk to the guy then eh. Not really, it's his brother he owes the money too! 😯 Families eh.
OT not as cold, but damper than it has been and rain to come today. I was alright with that bright cold dry weather actually.

Hmm….yesterday being 'cold' was due to me having a temperature. I didn't twig till late afternoon, when one of the GC, minus most of his clothes, asked if the heating could be switched off! 😂 We had a baby in the house, and Mrs Dusty feels the cold, but those were no excuses for 24c!
It seems DD and family have transported their evil Midlands bugs here, again. 😖They're coughing and sniffing, but that's normal for the adults. As a potential remedy. I ate a huge dinner, drank wine and went to bed. This is not medical advice; other ways to abuse your body are available, but may not be as pleasurable.
I'm unsure if my 'medication' has worked, but I feel heaps better this morning. Maybe it's just the thought that in a few hours, silence will, once again, prevail.🤩 Our nervous cat will also be able to come indoors, and not just between midnight and 07.00.☺️ At least we now have a shed's worth of seasoned logs, the fridge is full, and so is the oil tank, so we should weather the 'blizzard' coming on 2nd March, according to the Daily Nonsense. Oh, hang-on, the snow is going to fall as rain here, and elsewhere, 'accumulations' may be around 3cm. Mmm, quite a blizzard, then.
This morning it's warmer, but there's still rain around. Overnight, some roses have popped-up, complete with vase. Would you believe they're a variety known as 'Lego?' 😮

Well done on the logs Dusty. Sometimes I think trades and such take us for granted when we're a good customer, there's no choice but to move on and then it's you that's thought of as unreasonable 😉
And all those seeds in too. I feel so lazy when I read your posts but then I've got a few years on you 😊
Nowt as queer as folk eh Bluey. And you're off doing good deeds too. I hope your friends appreciate you.
Today is warmer and a bit brighter. Got to go and sort out quizzes, who's doing what. A friend won't go unless I drive her so guilt is at play here. Then photo group followed by swimming therapy. Goodness knows I need the exercise!
If I have energy and enthusiasm left I'm thinking of digging up more garden for veg. The prices are ridiculous in store and they taste of little. Plants are being sold but not compost yet. Still looking for something that resembles soil and not shredded trees. I got stones and branches in the last one.
8c here, a tad brighter but still grey with promise of rain. I'm still of the mind that we'll head straight into drought.

Blimey Dusty. We posted at the same time again. Must be west country timing 😄
Interesting Lego, not as good as the Floral Garden sets yet. I still have mine. But hopefully a start to gardening?

Dry and bright grey, rain on the way for lunchtime, it's still watering Dusty at the moment and dark over Bill's mothers though 😁 So no sailors trousers, or even collars, here.
My magpies, they have been around for a good few years, but the nest has been in another, more distant, tree. This year they have chosen a tree near me. They have used neighbours bird table etc in past years, so any frightening or eating small birds has been sustainable over those years
2P, Garden veg and shortages. I have been hearing on Farming Today about the floods, with crops under water, or not planted, shortages are expected so if space and energy a few extra veggies in your garden would be handy.
Compost, not looked yet but I think I said I'm going to pay extra and hope to get better, that said I bought some Levingtons last year & it was no better despite the premium price & name
I may have your cold Dusty, sneezing & coughing, if the rain arrives a spell in my recliner under a heated throw watching some dozy carp may help clear it.
The mythical mortgage lady YBE, isn't that what equity release is about? I waive my commission 😈
Hoping it brightens this weekend, I do need to cut back some old fern fronds and get garden wheelie round the front for bin day next week

The new log people appealed to me because they thin the woodland themselves, using small machinery to avoid the desecration which happens when commercial loggers are involved. As it happens, I have some pictures of that:
I'd forgotten about the Floral Garden sets. I'm sure the girls had those, or something similar, but they both preferred mud pies and potions!

I won't touch what passes as Levington now. Our garden centre has their own brand (really an Irish brand😉) which makes a great base. Failing that, I'd go Melcourt.
The 'cold' has vanished. No temperature today. However, I've an awful-looking rash on one shin, though it's not more than irritating. No idea why. I wore wellies yesterday, same as usual, but something got in there.😯 Doesn't go below the sock line. Don't forget the 'Scottish medicine' if all else fails.😋
I thought about equity release too. That's what my Dad did. We'd just cleared our mortgage when he died, so the kind building society immediately drew up another for the same amount IRO his bungalow. It was that, or pay the equity release debt monthly at a horrendous interest rate.😧

Happy Pangolin Day 😴 Who makes this stuff up? is there a cupboard like office at UN HQ with a couple of staffers assigning subjects to every day of the year?
Just asked Chat AI, here's a pic of the office 😂
Meanwhile, it's mild & dull but not too bad. May rain later of course
Only bit of gardening, it's FREE P & P at Browns & Fothergills for any last minute desires.
No gardening for me today, off out soon, meeting DD for pub lunch, trumps gardening
I may get the ferns cut back tomorrow, sunny afternoon predicted.

Farway I got bfb from the big river was on offer at 10.99 for 8kg dd ordered with her account so no p and p .
YBE I also thought she’s describing equity release, maybe the son had asked her and she |he didn’t know what it’s called. What a tangled web 🫣
Re Peter Beales roses apparently they do a rose festival in June that’s free if you live in the area.
Looking grey and miserable the cat came in wet so must have rained all night.
