Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Back from doing removals, and must eat humble pie over some of my comments re the elder grandchild. 😟He's useful after all! 😮 Our destination is still partially under construction, so paths and steps were unusually tricky. 11-year-old GS was like a mountain goat, and we were done in record time.😇
I wished I'd taken my camera. The 180 degree views to Dartmoor were incredible.😍 I'll get another chance in a month or two. 😉
Honesty doesn't bloom for long, wort, but it blooms early, and some find it self-seeds enough to replace itself. Here, I help it a little.
No sign of toms or chillies here Farway. In my haste, I think I overwatered them.😖 No worries….back to double figure temps next weekend. All the 'gardening' I've done is pot up some Aster schreiberi to plant in the wild garden shortly. It took over the border, so it's ideal for fighting it out with the natives. I've also put together a bare root sapling order that will make Mr Canute disappear faster than Johnny Ball and David Bellamy did from the BBC! 🤣 That's for another day, though.😄

Skipping like a goat is what young people do. Always a shock when we get a young grandchild at table tennis how agile, alert and full of energy they are. Us skilled oldies can usually manage skill to beat them and keep our dignity though 😄
Nothing much to report. I survived the interview and partial health check. Slightly high blood pressure though but not surprised. I've been strung out by this, the journey, the dentist et al for some time and no getting out and about to relax. Dreadful coffee for private business which was disappointing. Tooth repaired for the moment.
What I need is some pottering in the garden and beautiful places but it's same old today. Grey, wet and chilly but not cold cold. Around 6c now my thermometer is back in place 🙂 , no sign of son and the road is back to peace and quiet. It feels quite indulgent to have my life back.
Wort there seems to be some deals on pots, well brings them to normal prices. I had a look round the garden centre on my way to hospital and the prices were eye watering 😲 my £20 garden set is now £400!!!!!!! Small trees £89 so 20 increase. Shame the local nurseries couldn't hang on longer because I can see these garden centres going out of business. Like many, got too big.
Well off to sorting out, finishing and cooking because outside has nothing to recommend it. I have at least a month free from medical stuff 🤞 so at last can relax. Famous last words 😏

Grey & drizzle, busy non garden morning, a shopping delivery to me, and then I was the driver for a delivery where the driver just found out her insurance was not auto renewed, pulled over by polis! Fortunately she is old and wise enough to thank the polis for pointing it out, as opposed to arguing, flooring the accelerator and driving head on into them 😈, and they let her carry on home with a "get it sorted" warning.
My tom seedlings are still upright & alive, made it through the night. I did mine the opposite Dusty, I think mine were too dry, once I added some later they did the job
Good tooth news 2P, the price of garden "stuff" has gone daft, even the council subbed fruit trees were nearly £20, I looked at possible subs for Dead Plum but prices are just daft, so that remains on my keep looking list. I can see some G C going out of business as well, one here changed hands last year, one chain to another, much the same stuff, just in different order
Nothing more to add, some YT gardening perhaps?

Forgot the picture 😉 my bit of geranium that broke off, in a jar to root has bloomed. Can't bring myself to take it off because in this grim dark grey wet day it's cheery.
The narcissi come from the unused ground behind where they are far too dense. I think the bulbs need thinning out 😉
But news is better weather is on the way 🙂

'High' blood pressure is a relative term, 2p. No one should expect pensioners to have similar stats to young folk, Also, 'white coat syndrome' is real, and doesn't help! 😉 I hand nurse my home-collected stats these days, though it seems to be expected, if they think you look sentient and middle class! 🤣
Did I read a joint replacement is on the way for you? One of the ladies I helped yesterday is in the local Nightingale Hospital today, having a new knee. That's why my agile 11-year-old assistant and I were doing the final bits of the removal. Devon is almost unique in having actually retained, and re-purposed, its Nightingale….very MSE. 😇
It's heartening to hear your tooth also lives on, and neighbour's son is possibly over the far horizon for the foreseeable future.🏳️🌈 I wish Mr King was, too! He's been a right headknob in the past few days, planting small tree seedlings in the established hedgerow. I'm not sure if they're hawthorn or blackthorn, but I'm sure they'll be stunted, or Norway-bound, they're so wee. Perhaps he thinks they strengthen his claim to own the hedge, but like the folk who claimed to own a ransom strip we couldn't cross a few years ago, he must come up with some evidence.😉
This is the thinnest area of the hedgerow. I took it back to zero a year ago to thicken it. So, although it looks rather wussy, the growth of the existing hazel will really take off this year. Oh, and nothing will be allowed to cross the fence line. Farmer's rules! 😆

Morning all - Search London Fashion Week 😐️ Or watch the bin men doing their rounds in the Mallorcan sunrise like I just did 😃
Yep I like my sig too 2p. It's something daddy was forever saying, if we came in from work and said something like 'there we go, another day done'. There's hours 'til bedtime, so how are you going to use them? Not - how will you fill them, how will you use them? Good news re your marvellous neighbour, and your tooth and having a month off medical nonsense, and I love your daffs and geranium 😍
Ooh no to SuperstarGD's ceiling coming down Farway! Is the upstairs flat getting it sorted? Woohoo for Hot Lips rescuings and lavender though 🤗
Have you got room for them..?Thanks for the fig feed prompt, I'll have to sort my one out. It's sat the whole winter in my little front bedroom just getting on with itself. Should I do BFB scattered on the soil, or some tomrite in some water in it's tray?I like your clouds Less, it looks like Jesus had been dobbing his paintbrush about to get rid of the last bit of paint ha haa!
You can add me to the Old Fart gang re Yoofs Today Tch. They come in to work and they can't entertain themselves or sit still for a second, they're always playing/watching their phones or kicking my desk. Mind I can't complain really cos that's where I got the Balearic webcam site from 🤐 I'd never have pegged that purple plant as a rhododrendron though, and look at the colour of that soil! That is the stuff dreams are made on, or something.
Hopefully niece had a lovely time last night wort? Good thing you're nowhere near 2p for pots - the price of them 😮I can see you getting quite taken with the rose you know. Don't be getting attached to that rose, it is Not Your Rose 😄
Fingers crossed that's the removals all done then Dusty? This is a nice time of year to move, and you're in at the start of the garden waking up so you can see what you're dealing with. So Mr King has started a pi55ing contest with his saplings then... I pity the fool, he doesn't know who he's dealing with eh 😆
Running a bit late today cos I'm not doing a long walk to work in that weather. It's pishing it down and windy and cold - WoC = -5, and I can't be bothered. One day'll not harm. I'm not sure my long morning walks are doing me a blind bit of good anyway tbh. I only started doing them to save me being sat on my erse all day, but I'm still losing me bum and getting cankles regardless so I might give it up and start e-x-e-r-c-i-s-i-n-g 😱 Star jumps while the kettle's on, that kinda thing. We'll see.

Interesting positioning of the garden shed with this bungalow for sale in the rear end of nowhere in particular, not a million miles from me:
Needs a bit of TLC, but it looks good value and the garden's a blank canvas. Are you interested 2p? ☺️

The lady I was helping to move is the one with the acre of garden, some of which I was mowing last year. Her new place is brand new and came with more 'garden' than she expected, most of it tilted at about 25 degrees…1:4 and still 'field.' 😲 However, I'm sure she knows someone with a digger, and the builders aren't done yet. 😉
We'd love it if Mr King's successful and disappears behind an abundance of rampant foliage, but in the real world we expect some deviation from this idyllic result. 😏 We have a gentleman's agreement, 'cos I'm a gentleman. 😁 If he wants to 'own' and control the hedge, he knows he must prove ownership, or risk the next person on our land cutting it all down again. The thought of that will probably give him a few sleepless nights. It's a hard life!😉
OT: Marginally better today, as it's not forecast to rain. We still have interminable grey skies and a keen wind that will mean a dizzying 7c max. Not the best day for fixing the float valve on the sheep trough, but warmer days are on the way with (allegedly) double figures….so may just turn off the outside supply till then! 🙃

Grey and still wet from overnight rain, maybe getting better as the weekend approaches, hope it does.
Great geranium there 2P, a keeper for survival.
All this talk of hips, I heard yesterday of long delays, due to shortage of Bone Cement 🤨. . Checked on date, nope, not 1/4. Hands up who knew there was such a thing? Has the world passed me by entirely?
YBE said Ooh no to SuperstarGD's ceiling coming down Farway! Is the upstairs flat getting it sorted? Woohoo for Hot Lips rescuings and lavender though 🤗

Should I do BFB scattered on the soil, or some tomrite in some water in it's trayCeiling is down, or up, to landlord, one of the "joys" of renting I guess. Luckily DGD had informed everyone weeks previously about damp patches and bulge and it had been "investigated " by landlord's plumber, and pronounced all was well, tee hee 😁
Fig, I'm going to use BF & B once I get some, good all rounder, but like a starving person, anything is good. I see BF & B is on offer in Home Bargains, £2.99 for 2Kg, if I get in there in next few weeks I'll get some, or do as previously, order online £3.95 delivery, and get other stuff delivered at the same time Home Bargains Doff BF & B
The bungalow looks good, Dusty, on a slope? Ideal for haggis rearing with their longer legs on one side. Shed is a bit weird position as you say, what's it hiding?
Back OT, I have a broad bean just breaking the surface with leaves, these are the ones started on damp paper and potted on in unheated conservatory
Just noticed while tapping away, Magpies making a nest right in my eyeline from this ex DD bedroom, quick snap, but I "need" a proper method for the summer. One thing, the nest is directly above the road and parked cars are in bum line. 😈

Dusty that shed will be described as a garden room or easily accessible shed 😄 I had a friend with me when I viewed a place with a random conservatory attached to a back wall. It put me off but she said 'well you wanted a greenhouse ' .... You have to agree she was right. You have to take fresh eyes to these places - and no. Never doing a garden from scratch again. It's not all it's cracked up to be.
Farway not sure if the Maggie's is so great. They'll attack any other song birds in the area. Interesting about the idiot plumber. When that happened to me in a rental she repeatedly accused me of breaking the bubble. Good luck to her with getting it done.
Bluey you gave me an idea about webcams. It's yet again grey, gloomy and wet out there so I checked the webcams for the area (who knew there were so many) because the weather can be different within 5 miles here. Nope, even gloomier ☹️
But as I type the sun has come out. Not enough (any) blue sky to make a sailor a pair of trousers though.
