Awful weather - typical Brits talk

T&M reputable? Hmmmm. I remember the 80s and the amount of hyperbole in their seed catalogue then, if you could get one, that is. In those days they cultivated an air of mystery and exclusivity to justify their pricing. But don't listen to me, as I've a very jaded opinion of many large nursery companies, especially those taken over by our cousins across the pond. My first hand experience suggests they have a cuddly image, but lock people who bring new plants to them into agreements more often to stymie their competitors than to actively promote the plant. Been there, done it and haven't had the royalties.Mind you, the home-grown guy from Brum who took us out to dinner and promised a 'massive roll out' was almost as bad. Found out a few weeks later that he was in debt to the tune of several million, so had to race up to the Midlands in the snow to rescue my stock before it was seized! Being a true Brit, least he told me though!2

I'm old enough and even in the 70s T & M were over hyped.Of course back then pre -internet the catalogue was a promise of paradise for a couple of shillings, giving the range & variety that Bees from Woolies for 6d just could not matchSutton's was my second choice, mainly because the HQ was Reading and I considered this "Local" as an "Aunt" lived there and supplied us children with Huntley & Palmers broken biscuits in the 50sEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Low cloud, greyness, and drizzly - not fun in this part of Somerset 😏But we were forecast gusts of over 40mph, and those didn't happen, although we've had more than 'drizzle.'Closing off the side ventilation in the polytunnel today by adding my own frames and polythene in sections. Hoping to carry on growing salads for the next couple of months.

Rubbish drizzle non-flippin-stop today. Been dreaming of lying on a beach, somewhere tropical, or maybe a hot tub (if I had one) 🍹Just my opinion, no offence 🐈1

They weren't especially good though, so I concluded in future I'd just get mine from Almeria via Joe Sainsbury.I was thinking more of lettuce, mizuna, land cress and sorrel etc.Didn't get much done at all today. Relatives from further north descended to collect their caravans, en route to a Covid fest down in Cornwall over 1/2 term. A little like Glasto here now!2 -
