Cold and sunny, may have been frosty but I was in bed. Those eggs Dusty, wonderful.I laughed at the printer jokes as well.No unlocked connections around me, I did look when mine went down a bit back. The printer messages bring to mind when desktop PCs were just arriving at work, no one knew anything about them or how to do "stuff", we had one between about half a dozen of us, sharingThe secretaries had one each, 'cos they were typing letters, told you it was long ago.We found out about Auto correct in Word, so set the auto correct to replace certain words.Oh how we larfed at the secretaries going mad when they printed out
My knee is still wonky, but improving. If the sun holds I may try & get out into the garden for a limp aboutWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray6 -
Indeed I'm still buying my eggs from the farm where they have very happy hens, I know, I can see them.
So fresh they keep. And half the price of shop bought.
I think it's time for the full cream jersey and Shorthorn milk. 3 small cows that make their own way to be milked.
I don't need to buy vitamin d and it won't be full of that beetroot extract the supermarket uses. Not much gas because they are grass fed.
Here endeth the first lesson 😆
Sun is out, washing is out in hope, still very cold though.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I’ve boiled the life outta everything that’ll fit in me washer, and I’m sat at the laundrette.
(No himself wouldn’t fit. Yes I did think about it. Me cutting bits off him to make him fit would probably wake him so I decided against it.)
Im glad yous liked the link. Good clean fun
and how often can you say that nowadays…
I’ve not seen yolks like that in long enough Dusty, I’d give good money for a tray of them
How’s your girls btw? It seems hogs have gone to ground now…
You’re a s0d you Farway, being mean to those girls. Jeez it woulda made me laugh though, from your side of the desk
Have you cooked up any of those extraneous spuds yet 2p? I’d love to live somewhere with proper eggs and milk and stuff. I didn’t get the beetroot extract bit though…?Honesty is the best poverty.4 -
Dusty hope you made a wish on the shooting star😉
The flu has knocked my 21 yr old nephew for six too.
Hope everyone’s aches and pains are feeling better.Checked the forcast and today was the only day without rain for the next two weeks 🥹 So 2 loads of washing done and on line ,it was frosty on the grass when I was out, but I felt raring to go ,so got out there and started hacking back.
The weigelia has had a very severe haircut, and I didn’t stop there, carried on all along the back fence. The green bin is now full ready for collection this week.I tried not to get waylaid by any other jobs, but did have a go at scraping the moss off the drive, with a bbq brush, it ended with no bristles on it 😂
After a few hours in the shade, the sun hadn’t made it to the back garden . I was cold and wet from the bushes. So I’ve just had a shower and a sandwich and cuppa tea, might go for a mince pie and cream now .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
YBE I hadn’t seen that site before the printer pranks were funny as was the houses with faces 😂 Farway should have known you’d be a rum un.
Dusty lovely eggs ,I don’t know why but I prefer the brown ones.
2 p Jersey milk sounds good. What’s the beetroot ? XFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4 -
How did I miss house's with faces?
No haven't cooked the taters yet. I learnt that they need a few days to dry out. Hoping to save some for Christmas.
Yes, brown eggs depends on what they are fed I think.
Beetroot is involved in the making of bovaer which they fed to cows supplying supermarkets. Doesn't go into the milk so they say.

Just given the choice I like stuff to be not shifted hundreds of miles and messed about with but then I have the staples here in eggs milk, cheese and ice cream made locally. And it's cheaper.
Even the sausages I could know the name of the breeding sow - which I declined 😵💫 too much. And the meat from named local farmers.
Though I did wonder in one job when I took delivery of salmon from the back of a van and it appeared on the menu as poached salmon 😆
No gardening, too cold and damp. Did see a couple of shooting stars faintly from the garden. Follow Orion's long arm and they come from just beyond there 😊 very scientific!
Incoming news - neighbours son already parked for his 4.45am start on Sunday 😬
And no, Poppy wasn't the winner if the northern lights photo - though she should have been. Get in there Pops 📷

I recall the first techie teacher at our school, sending internet messages to a school in the US. The router was in a cupboard, so she and some kids had to sit in there and listen to a lot of weird noises in the lunch break, finally translating them into a sentence or two of print. Naively, perhaps, we thought she was mad.
We only have 5 hens now. To be blunt, we either have to invest many ££ in new fox-proof fencing quite soon, or run the numbers down. It's sad, but the huge cost isn't worthwhile when we can source good eggs locally. :'(YoungBlueEyes said:I’ve not seen yolks like that in long enough Dusty, I’d give good money for a tray of them

Have you cooked up any of those extraneous spuds yet 2p? I’d love to live somewhere with proper eggs and milk and stuff. I didn’t get the beetroot extract bit though…?Listening in on a conversation last Monday, I learned orange yolks are promoted by lacing feed with paprika and marigold flowers.
I'm not sure what 2p meant about the beetroot, as I understand powdered beetroot is said to have health benefits almost as good as eating it fresh. Beets take at least 35-45 mins of boiling, so I dread to think how long these fodder examples might take or what kind of pan would be needed!
I'm going to try beetroot in a polytunnel bed in spring, to see if a crop can be coaxed out of them before the toms go in.
Hog boxes have been finished-off. Photos tomorrow.
I forgot to wish....Doh!wort said:Dusty hope you made a wish on the shooting star😉Checked the forcast and today was the only day without rain for the next two weeks 🥹 So 2 loads of washing done and on line ,it was frosty on the grass when I was out, but I felt raring to go ,so got out there......The weigelia has had a very severe haircut, and I didn’t stop there, carried on all along the back fence. You're making me feel guilty with all that clearing. With the ride-on out of action, at least I have an excuse not to cut much grass. Doubt if 'mower man' will come before New Year.

Don't know what's up with your weather everybody - no frost here and it's been (sort of) pleasant and mild(ish), with sun, for the past two days... and that's after a clear night last night - I spotted a shooting star too (a Geminid - good to spot over the next week or so apparently).Printer story raised a smile, but poached salmon a laugh ... and a nawty boy shake of the head for Farway's antics...

I didn't see 2p's post through lack of a refresh, but looking at it now, I find the potential cannibalism a little disconcerting.....LessImpecunious said:Printer story raised a smile, but poached salmon a laugh ... and a nawty boy shake of the head for Farway's antics...

Our weather this morning is breezy and cloudy after a mild calm, and sunny, Saturday. This was sunset last night as the clouds began to drift in:
Off to find a tree today.....

well the weather has decided to cooperate and be quite mild today with added tiny bits of sun, who knows that's going on...Alas, no gardening today though, got plans with friends later on, but hopefully next week, after I spent some time solidifying plans in my head yesterday...And I still haven't dug out the fruit cage...Procrastination is me..wm, I migh not have forgiven her either, but then I would have put them back up again
The comedy tree looks ok now actually because I followed the principle of more is more so it's covered in stuff so much you can barely see the tree. It still has a lovely smell though. Love the water/snow pic, it does look very wintry. Well done you for relocating too! Hope your meeting went well! 2p, how went the mot? painlessly, hopefully. And fancy strawberries coming now! I did have a wander round yesterday and saw soe rhubarb starting, what is going on...and flowers in bloom too! I have a salvia I was worried about but that still has blooms on it, only a couple or so, but again, madness....Did laugh at poached almon too. How did he get such vivid pictures?!!Dusty, christmas roses? I'm impressed I think, although I do feel a bit of a slacker for not decorating more, hope your conservatory is now festooned...and that's not a bad surname to be playing with when you're selling books too. We didn't get a present after, something about his old contract was still still in his old name so he needs ot change it to a new name...Well done on 'finding' extra plants..I didn't realise but when I bought the bay bush many moons ago, it was basically lots of individual ones, which I could have separated, so there's a tip for the future....And they grow like wildfire so i could have had about eight plants by now instead of one sucking the life from the front garden
The fatsia? a bit marmite.....beautiful egg though, did it get eaten after? They'd be lovely boiled or fried... I had my first computer in 1998 I think, 50mb hard drive, the twang twang electric screech of the internet booting up will be stuck in my head forever...I could download a 5mb song in twenty minutes in 2001, now I can download a 3gb film in less than 30 seconds..I t was good for talking to random people on irc though, that's how I discovered Green Day thanks to a Canadian pal. I'm thinking your pic is mangelwurzels, at least I hope so. Coincedentally I've got some seeds for them to sow next year so we'll see how they do! Farway, hope your wobbles are less wobbly..O course you'll see your hyancinth, because you already can
so you must be doing something right! Touch it for good luck next time you sow liam or rigidron...wort, family is more fun than mowing grass anyway, or maybe not depending on how much you like both
sounds like your garden and my garden are not that dissimilar with the sun...Only a little bit of mine gets it in the winter because it's too low, makes for one very soggy and cold side...mince pie and cream would make it all better though
ybe, how is he now, has he managed to not get it or is he floored, sounds serious if it can lay low some young 'uns...that printer trick is genius! I did chuckle..a lot!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6
