Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I like the rotten trunk against the perfect fence post, it's look, your time too will come moment...The sky was really good last night for a change [ I'm never up to see a spectacular sunrise, or the beautiful reflected rays of 2P where I can practically hear trumpets sounding, so here's a more in your face one, a bit like me
I like your cup Farway, have you still got it? I'd be chuffed with that, it's proper stuff...Very nice work on the box Disty, that's some straight edge going on there...I like your tool bucket too, very mse..No 2p, she feels a bit bereft I think. She keeps saying no one has got in touch with her, and she thought they were her friends but as someone else has said, people these days don't do outrage, they just quietly don't talk to you anymore, to avoid embarassment, or being tarnished with the same brush. Patriotism is fine if you like it, but Nationalism isn't.Weather is not raining, some blue sky but I can't take advantage of it, OH wants to go and get himself a shiny new toy that works, and it is his birthday, so we do that today....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi3 -
Hello everyone,
I've managed a bit of a catch up over the last 3 days - usually things quieten down for me in December but for some reason this year is proving an exception to that rule!
I love the idea of decorating windows -taff - I'd probably leave them in place until Easter as I don't like the cleaning off afterwards! I once kept my Christmas lights up (which were hung around a room) for 5 years!! My friends always used them as a beacon to check I was ok! My mother took them down one day whilst I was in hospital and my daughter (now 24) has never forgiven her! How did the wonky tree fare? Did you wedge it straight and make it look beautiful? I have to confess I am not loving my tree this year so I keep moving baubles in the hope it'll be right by the time the Fat Fella arrives.
I took this pic when out walking with Romeo at Mum's recently. I meant to share it over a week ago but life got in the way. I think the water looks like snow and I'd imagine it's almost impassable now given the rain we've had in recent days.
I think you have a real eye for a pic Less - the two pics of the hawthorn were excellent in their own right. I confess I hankered after a bit of cold weather - we need the extremes to kill the bugs don't we? This sludgy time we are living in at the minute is confusing to me - my bedroom was 19' this morning when I woke up (the heating comes on at 18') - that's positively tropical!
I am glad the Tiger Balm has come in handy Farway - I did my back in a couple of weeks ago and the only things which helped was a quick march with a pal (she has this habit of starting slowly and building up to a yomp as our walks progress) and a liberal slapping of TB. I smelled great! I was 9 in 1976 and remember the sunshine and drought - my Mum grew her own veg and that year it was a poor crop from memory. She was gutted as I think she relied on her veg garden to supplement our lack of money.
Loving the spud 2P and what a treat they're unexpected. I feel I need to rethink my veg growing as my onions did well, my garlic failed and the beetroot failed to thrive. My razzers did well and so did the Alpine strawberries I have dotted everywhere around my garden. Hairdressers are a law unto themselves aren't they!! I have recently changed my style and had a fringe cut in - I have a calf lick in my fringe and she found it very funny explaining to me that if I didn't blow-dry my hair properly each time I'd end up looking like Camer0n D1az in There's Something About M4ry film
I'd have had a right good mooch around that show Dusty - I love the traditional shows which bring communities together. I take my Mum to the neighbouring village Horticultural; Show each year and we love supporting it. I am always blown away by people's creativity and skill in the garden. I think it's great that you volunteer with such a realistic and pragmatic approach! As you know my Mum has dementia and now has no concept at all about the cost of things - it is embarrassing when we go out for a meal and she'll leave a £2 tip for good service! She then moans about the cost of eating out - close to us there is a top notch fish and chip shop and we pay about £38 for fish and chips and a drink for the two of us. If I hear "I used to get change out of tenner for fish and chips all four of us" one more time I swear I'll not be held responsible for my actions.
I look forward to seeing the hog houses when they're done. They look ace at the moment and I can visualise the end result. I had those Sainsbugs baskets!! I had to to take them to the tip after 20 years of faithful service when I downsized!
Here's a sunrise shot from a couple of weeks ago, I took it with you guys in mind and then real life got in the way.
Oh I've had a problem with meeces coming in from the cold and nesting under my kitchen units. I dealt with the issue humanely - I re-homed 12 of the blighters over a period of a week. A good 1/4 of a mile from my home and not far from the spot where this pic was taken so hopefully they don't try to return to me!
I am with you wort I too, cannot wait for brighter times! I really don't enjoy walking Romeo in the dicky dark. Sorry to hear you've got hip & thigh issues. Getting older ain't for sissies is it!
I hope your Christmas do went well YBE?? I'm hoping you scored a load of juicy gossip on Micro Manager!
I need to crack on as I've got a bit to do today. I am Chair of a local charity and it is our AGM tonight and we've got a BIG agenda to get through including accepting updated Articles so I need to prep my stuff (I've lived and breathed it for about a year so hopefully I'll be ok!).
Wishing everyone a productive day!

Rain stopped, and some pale blue sky as welltwopenny said:Farway, that must have been a very proud day and great photo. Did it upset many people?
Glad your bits are cooperating. True that if one bit plays up the others will come out in sympathy. Annoying but easier to put right.Yes it did upset one bloke,I was fairly new to showing, new allotment etc, I overheard him moaning about a pair of bl88dy marrows of winning.Unknowingly to me he was the person, there is always one, who wins everything and looks upon it as their rightI did not enter to get prizes, just make up the numbers, and because I was on the Committee I felt I should participateI had to return the cup after my year was up, but at least I had it on the mantle piece for a bit. It's been downhill since then, even LIAM and radishes fail
Wonky bits are still painful at times, but knee is easing at last. The Tiger Blam back in it's cage for nowDustyevsky said:Less's sculpture has taken years in the making, especially the lichen, so that gives it added value.
Who knows, maybe that tree was in its prime when Farway produced the prize marrows.
I laughed at that, looking back to '76 I remember it was also the year when invaders from France arrived, not in rubber boats, but on wind & wings, ladybirds sir, thousands of 'em
Gardening was dangerous, the blighters were biting bare arms, poor things were starving and humans were all there was, the aphids had died along with the plantsWell done on the hog boxes Dusty, and as already noted, good MSE tool box.More good photos as well, there was nearly one from me this morning, sort of sun-bow on a cloud, but it was too fleeting to get a shot. Then the moon in view this morning, again not quite right for a shot. Maybe tomorrow? No gardening with the legs etc, most i'll manage is rubbish into wheelie binNumerus non sum4 -
WM that was a lovely long post that was enjoyable to read this morning 🙂
I thought of you yesterday with the storms and hoped you hadn't got pom-poms hanging outside. There was a fair bit of destruction of outside decorations here.
Wort hope it went well. I'm guessing your birthday search wasn't for a lawnmower 😆
Dusty you were right. It was selworthy beacon car park. A great spot for sunsets and walks with lovely views.
Farway, don't think you're missing much. I remember the invasion, I spent ages fishing them out of the sea because they were on the beaches as well.
Who said about the weather killing off the bugs? I got bitten by a mosquito yesterday and there's still the odd fruit fly around.
Today was dentist, hair to do.
I went out to photograph kingfisher but they were doing noisy maintenance so no joy.
Tried for a sunset this afternoon but you couldn't even see the sun. Fair foggy over them there hills.
Just one of those days I guess.
Tomorrow is MOT day so I've been saving the chores because I can't walk far to do anything else.
It really was sunny today, still mild but gone chilly tonight with clearer skies.
I've got a strawberry in my garden, nearly two to go with the plums.
And a cute little Bramley like a Christmas bauble.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
