Thank you for the bird, he or she is gorgeous...They're wooden sleeper steps, painted black, it's Cuprinol Ducksback paint, ours is black to match the fences..Picture that will be taken down tomorrow ish. The second step will be where the pallet is
This was yesterday before i pulled the dahlias up after the first frost we had...the wall is orange but it looks more yellow in this photo.

That's a great idea 🙂
I like the container too. You're very creative.
Don't think you need to be worried about identification, Google maps will be way before your reno. Even Google lens couldn't find you in 4 countries.
I looked up the falcon because the chest feathers a a bit different but turns out it's a she. She was back the other evening too and tried to get her in flight but she was too quick.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

She's lovely, i had to send a picture to my sister so she could see too..And I didn't know they were the fastest animal either...Now I can sneakily see if she knows she's a she....The container is empty now apart from two thymes, a bedraggled kale and Princess Jasmine. I got it wrong, it was two days ago not one...time flies when you can't remember what you ate even yesterday
As for the steps, i just didn't fancy concrete ones with some slabs on top, and besides, when anyone makes them, they always make them so tiny you can barely get your foot on it, I wanted something I couldn't immediately fall off. And that particular gravel, which I would love to know the name of so I can get more [hoping Dusty knows], knits together really well and is solid despite only being about two inches deep. Not like the other stuff...Oh and right in the corner a thyme in pot on top of a chimney pot [ based on something I may have seen you posting but not with bamboo sticks in it

You can take a sample of the gravel, a big handful, to a builders merchant and they should be able to identify it.
I've found them very tolerant of a daft old person doing things like this 😉
Yes I'd like another chimney pot. A smaller one. Budget allowing. Perhaps my Christmas present.
Has anyone seen this on the news site? I think it's brilliant. What to do when you can't garden

Morning everyone - again.
And a hi to Less 😉
It's -2c this morning so I'm going back to bed with my breakfast the heating wasn't set to come on.
Set to warm up tomorrow but raining so gardening or even visiting gardens is not going to happen.
Neighbour cut their lawns which is really annoying because it makes the rest of us look scruffy 🥶
Hope Bluey has got her snow shoes on if it's a work day.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Blue sky, sunshine and very frosty. My heating came on so i stayed up
Supposed to be wet & windy weekend so gardening looks like a non starter againI love the mural idea, they seem to be all the rage lately, the local council has paid for a lot around the shopping areas, reflecting local heritage and such likeOn my "Must do" list is take a camera & get the photos
It's Hoggin gravel, no doubt YT has full details but for proper job you'll also need a Whacker Plate-taff said:) As for the steps, i just didn't fancy concrete ones with some slabs on top, and besides, when anyone makes them, they always make them so tiny you can barely get your foot on it, I wanted something I couldn't immediately fall off. Yep, sounds like being sent as apprentice for a Long Weight but it's all true I tell you.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/basics/techniques/gardenstructure_hogginpath1.shtmlThe frosts have certainly done for my tender plants, nasturtiums, begonias, dahlia. No rush to tidy up, but I do want to carry the potted Bishop dahlia into the conservatory, and will try to save the begonia cormsIn my Asda delivery I had some nice shaped toms as my Essential ones, mostly it's pot luck, including squidgy.I 'll save some seeds, but the variety was printed on the pack, "Caniles" so asked AI and it's a commercial F1 of course, but gave some retail equivalents, so I may just dabble in some for 2026, price dependent once P & P addedHere's the Asda Caniles

I'm not so warm this morning. It was -4c here!twopenny said:
Glad you're going to be warm for the next couple of years Dusty. Better than the rest of us by the looks of it 😜
Evidence below:
Gladys is not amused.....
Back later. Mrs Dusty is chasing me for jobs this morning....and I've not even done the Hedgehog Camera yet!
OT: It was bluddy cold, and now the sun's about to give us a sub-tropical day of 6c.“ A government big enough to supply everything you need, is big enough to take everything you have.” Thomas Jefferson7 -

That makes sense, it was down the bottom, about a six inch layer on 19ft x 9ft, I riddled it all to remove the sand and these were the big bits left that I put about the garden...More riddling in my future then....Yeah, they have a couple or so days a year here where graffitti artists go round and paint walls for the beautification of locals, there are some really good ones...Nice toms, principe borghese might be a good substitute....

Afternoon all
Gawd that was some catchup. How about your falcon 2p
and I hope you were holding on tight for your ride out among the igloos Farway
That dragonfly sculpture is enviable Dusty
, as is your wall taff
Good you had HogCam to discover the dam cat Dusty, I'm glad normal service has resumed. Still no pp though...?
Well it's a bit parky out there eh! We did get some rain, then freezing rain, then the whole thing froze, then it snowed, which thawed a wee bit and then refroze, and just in case you were in danger of thinking of going out Jesus sent us hailstones the size of your thumbnail to dissuade you. But at least the wind's dropped.
Funny you should mention shoes 2p. I was ...pulled up... for my choice of shoes the other day at work. OMM was doing her thing, and I might have said "ach yer hole" or similar. Next thing she's pointing out my "unprofessional shoes"
I compounded the issue by saying - well you're quite right, they don't have a single qualification between them. That was not The Right Answer
Here are said shoes. They're marvellous and I love them. The colour hasn't come out right, in real life they're a beautiful rich-but-dull torquoise colour and they're heavenly comfy

(I was out earlier looking round the charideee shops for some truly unprofessional shoes, but the price of them with xmas coming!
)
Anyway. Pics. My tom flowers and brambles have survived the unprecedented, climate change driven, killer Artic air mass perfectly normal bit of a cold snap we're having. I took pics to put them on here but never got round to it, then the snow came, so here yas go -

It's meant to warm up from here on in, possibly, with rain and (relative) warmth coming in on a gusterly westerly, they say. 4' currently, and Feels Like is 2'. The FL was down to -10 the other night and it bluddy felt like it too! :brrrr:Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.6
