Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Very odd garden in that house IMO - big greenhouse and polytunnel, and bins that could be for compost, but hardly any plants and acres of boring lawn... Maybe it's been pimped for the photos by CGI, to encourage enquiries from people who don't like gardening, removing the large veg plot that surely belongs in there3

DD2 had her 'legal' wedding there. We left here exactly 2 hours before it was scheduled and, luckily, the M5 cooperated. The couple made it on time, but I was going bananas, trying to park! Only missed a few minutes, but it took years off my life!

I've ruled out blurring her face, and some pictures seem to need a human or animal for context/focus. I'm always lagging behind as well, 'cos she's way fitter than I am!Any ideas?

but the sensible old fart thinks it won't work out too well from a practical perspective.

Paddington Bear = Hard stare....omg ybe, that is a house and a half, I would fight someone for it...Imagine what you could do with the garden, you can experiment till the cows come home, a bit of formal knot stuff, some gravel garden, an allotment at home, so many sitooteries, and such quiet neighbours! And a lovely bit of original feauturing...it's gorgeous. As Dusty says, shame about the neighbours...but then, maybe he'll move on quick smart...Dusty, it was by a library is all I know, I don't know Bristol that well at all.Wort, I don't miss nights at all, they really sod up your body...fingers crossed for a Rottery win..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi3

I don't think I'll be dropping in for a quick Chateauneuf du Pape until that Rottery win comes up.Agree with the sentiments re night shifts. Did the 3 shift system for 6 months when I was young, and it messed-up my body clock. Memories of that period are very hazy.I can tell how much younger than me you are, by your great response to Bluey's property post! One benefit of being a 'conspiracy theorist' is having slug pellets that work.3

Did you get more pears rescued/stewed? Pears + cheese is a fab combo, beaten only by apples + cheese imo. Yummy yum yum
Hopefully the Beurre Alexandre will be a good replacement for your hard red jobbers. Your neighbour being eaten out of house and home by puppies, I shouldn't laugh but
Please god my neighbour hasn't mixed doubles....
Anyway, next question. When you're pre-emptively looking at gardens that come with a house, how much garden is too much garden? Cos I've found a house but I think I understand now why people say "no that's too much, I'd never be able to maintain it"...
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/163936076#/?channel=RES_BUYWhat a pity the neighbour turned out like that, looks like you can sometimes tell a book by the coverThat house, what a cracker for the price when I compare with around hereThose out houses & glass houses etc, makes me wonder what previous owner had, some sort of business, storage, keen glass house exhibits? And I note what looks like blocks of flats next door, with "handy" potential football pitches in front. I'd suggest looking at weekends as well as weekdays. As Dusty & Taff say, lots of potential with the garden, it's not larger than one I had, but I had mine as mostly grass for the childrenI think all those walls cry out for trained fruit, more work, though. You could rent out the outhouses, the way things are going our Ange will be along for them anywayReading the tales of neighbours makes me thankful for mine.
My neighbour mentioned this yesterday, lots of acorns, berries, sycamore seeds, apples, pears etc. Folklore dictates this means harsh winter on the way, nature providing plenty of fattening bird food.Dustyevsky said:Another sign indicating the end of summer, is the sudden reduction in the number of House Martins and Swallows. Last week, I could see 30 or 40 on the wires in the morning. Now, the majority seem to have gone. That's early! Do they know something?Stewed a load of my apples first thing, not being keepers I have to freeze themPears, I'll sample one lunchtime and stew if ripeAnd, finally, I have a pepper ripening, I only grew them for looks, not taste, but the way my indoor toms turned out I may grow more peppers next yearEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3
