Awful weather - typical Brits talk

We have some south African folk who have moved here. One couple plus sister are lovely.
It was she who kindly gave me the tail end of natural products that she uses and the most recent is surprisingly good.
Greenlipprd muscle. Gel. It seems to work for joints or muscles I don't know but have to be careful as I ran round feeling better and when it wore off I'd got sore. Not a suggestion or medical advice. Just kindness and observation.
Had some rain this morning, barely got wet but the grass has a slightly green tinge in places. People running around in macs and brollies which was a slight overreaction to a bit of drizzle 😁
Suns out now and so are people with power tools. I could do with more rain just for peace!
I'm another who has the kitchen blinds closed because it's depressing looking at the garden.
So trying to catch up on some sleep as idiot next door has been doing the 5 o'clock thing for 8 days out of 10 and I'm cream crackers.
Watching some of Monty and his gardening travels and out photographing this afternoon. Chores can wait 🙂I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

Think that's what I've got now Farway!
Add on for Bluey.
Been watching Nature and Us:A History through Art.
Not as relaxing as others because it required you to think 😵💫 but I really enjoyed it. If only the presenter wasn't quite so .......I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It really did look like we were all going to get something substantial down here, but I should have remembered, it was only a projection. Perhaps a Mr Ferguson had a hand in it?
Take today; paperwork nonsense this morning while we waited for the rain. After lunch, everything's parched, so an hour of watering stuff. Then Mrs Dusty reminded me about the thistles in the top field, so it was 'hunt the thistle'..... 2 hours of slow-motion walking and zapping, but there's little to show for it.
At best, the grass will continue growing, and the thistles will wilt and disappear....until spring.
The good news is that DD2's rooms were ready for carpet, so they and their visitors arrived here around 16.00 for showers. The bathroom plumbing is still some way off, but they have a cloakroom, so the basics are covered.
I saw a Common Blue while thistling, but no camera. They're not very 'common' here. I also spotted a Small Copper in the polytunnel last week, but the same situation applied. The Copper likes sorrel, and we've several of those in there for sandwich 'greens.'
I've looked, but the photo of our pears hasn't made it into the MSE folder yet. Here, instead, is another fruit ripening now, but I don't think we'll be making our own cough medicine this year.
Just say, "No!"7 -

Well I was looking to move and Bluey said why not move out of the area.
Can someone lend me a few quid?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

YBE my heavy book was a light read, This Charming man. I got it from the book cycle place. I’m not up for Thelma and Louise type drive as I don’t drive ! Looking forward to seeing your photos . If he’s South African he will be bbq ing a whole chicken with a can of beer up its erse. 😉
2 p hope you get a photo of the geese all majestic in flight.
Dusty I’d skipped over the maggot pic thanks for reposting 👿
Pp green lipped muscle is available as tablets too.
I finished painting the new gate BIL had put the final cross beam on. Also went back to the nursery and got compost ,they do their own compost and it was decent last lot I got, so the olive trees are potted up, I got Phlox and a Veronica a low lying one with saucer shaped blue flowers. Also a Echinacea moodz in the 1.99 bit so sneakily chopped in half to see what happens ,as my sunny border has more shade than it used to.
Back to work today 😔 and tomorrow is double celebrations as DGson passed his exams with distinction meal out then nip to Nephew s 21st for a drink. In work again day after so not too much celebrating 🤔😔
Pink sky and sun just poking up. We had only one shower again yesterday and much wind which is drying everywhere out.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Bleurgh to your rat-tailed maggots Dusty (I do remember it now) and yeah for babby being a natural traveller. I'd vote for a Yap Tax but it'd make Lovely Neighbour bankrupt in short order, even with her NHS salary
Christ, buy that car Dusty! Or buy me that car! It's cheaper than mine was and looks in slightly better nick too. I''ll not deviate from Swifts again now, they're absolute little belters, and a 1.5 will pokier than mine
I agree with Dive though - I'd need the leather seats removed/re-covered.
Might it be time to sacrifice that pear tree Farway and get something less infuriating instead? Illustrated Man being South African was my thought too, when I looked up Boerboels. I haven't seen him to speak to yet but. To Be Continued...
Greenlipped mussel reminds me of a joke I've half-forgotten 2p, I'll have to drag it out of the back of my brain and put it on here. Did you get out photographying..? I'll put History of Art on my list, thank you kindlyIf that's pp's place she can take it off the market cos it'd be a perfect Rottery Acres
Unsure about the active community participation bit though
Beer Can Chicken - there's a blast from the past wortBoooo to work but yay to DGS's distinction and 21st partying :clinking-glasses:
OT Warm and sunny and lovely here now, 13'c currently and a high of 21' to come, they say. We got a bit of rain yesterday aft, just a wee bit, but Tusky has given thunder-y lightning-y rain for Friday aft. I'll believe it when I see it
Oh and I'll be singing "I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a thing to wear" all day now, thanks wortShout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.6 -
A guy walks into a seafood restaurant and looks in the tank and says to the waiter Garvaise “I’ll have that squid there, the one with the green lips” and sits at a table. Gervaise says “noo please not that one, it’s my favourite. He’s so mild and gentle!” But the customer won’t be swayed, he wants that squid. So Gervaise reaches it out of the tank, takes it into the kitchen, and lays it out on the steel table. But the squid looks up at him with watery eyes and a quivering green lip and he can’t kill it.So the dishwasher Hans says “c’mere I’ll do it” and gets a cleaver. But the squid starts doing his eyes and his lips again, and he can’t bring himself to do it either.Which just goes to show - Hans that does dishes is as soft as Gervaise, with mild green hairy lipped squid.Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.6
